good enough to break your heart again

Just read the article and was actually gonna start this thread because, as usual, Vaccaro hits the nail on the head. Sad to read, but alarmingly accurate.

He nailed it. Rough for the kids rough for the fans. The next day my anger is as much as last night. From a fan perspective well at least myself as a fan it's just real rough being a fan it's seriously like we are cursed,

The kids that move on this year I wish them all the best the kids that stay I wish them the best. Champ I really hope he has bright future playing either way he is a great kid. He can hold his head high the way he has represented the school. Regadrless of how angry I am even today just at the overall circumstances of this season and the last 20 years or whatever I'm real proud of him

Good idea on post topic

watched on dvr late last night

As we all thought upset in the making then as was mentioned in the article another close one       Can mention so many different moments

I know I’m disappointed in a way in a cannot believe mode right now as anticipating a great Friday night game but

more importantly really have to feel bad for the 20 something year old kids giving there heart and sole out there

Why’d I have to sneak upstairs during a family party 25 or so years ago and happen to watch an elite 8 game? Why couldn’t I have rooted for Ohio state to win that one?  That would have been too easy. Fvck you Scoonie Penn.   Fvck you who ever was the first big white guy on that 10 seeded gonzaga team. Fvck you Craig Smith. Fvck you untimely injuries. Fvck you Doug Wiggins.  Fvck you Mike Stephen’s.  Fvck you weed testing. Fvck you Dwayne Polee (alright that’s too much). And Fvck anyone who gives up on this team. We might as well stick together cause it’s obvious we get no love elsewhere.

We get love from Vacarro all the time. Not only is he an excellent writer and reporter, he always seems to be pulling for us. You can tell it hurt him to write this.

2.8 seconds and can’t get a proper play called.

How about a Laettner type play to Wheeler for the win.

When Raftery was mentioning all those buzzer beating plays I laughed to myself.
Figured Wusu was going to throw ball away. Terrible shot we got was better than I expected.

Mike nailed it. The photos of Posh and Julian brought a tear to my eye. The kids brought as much passion to the program as those of us posting here. I hope Posh returns and wish nothing but success to Julian if it's time for his turn pro.

Save your timeout throw that exact pass then call your timeout and you have two seconds from midcourt. Good teams practice those situations and are prepared.

Great article by Vaccaro. He is a true fan. First time I've seen the photos of Posh and Champ. Utterly heartbreaking to see these two like that after the effort they put in. Heads high guys! We're all so proud of you all!

As bad as I feel as a fan, I feel worse for the players. I really enjoyed this team, if not the results - they play(ed) hard and left it on the floor (virtually) all season. Great comebacks in games where other might have given up. Great heart, especially (no revelation) Posh, who has become one of my all time favorite Johnnies (and I go back to the 60's). Seem like  a great bunch of kids. I wish Champ success next year and thank him for his contributions.

Sadly, there are likely to be ore disappointments next year, but that is part of being a fan.

Perfectly stated.  If I knew back then you were such a great fan I'd have listened better to you back then.   :)

after the way we lost last night, and the disappointment of this season, i am as emotionally spent as i have ever been with respect to SJU.  where do we go from here?

1 and 13 against tournament teams and in 8 of those 13 were tied or had the lead in the second half. Just an impossibly disappointing season. No idea what went wrong or why nothing changes no matter who the coach is.

Also, in Kenpom's luck metric, which is basically a measure of performance in close games, we were 346 out if 358. Porvidence was # 1.
