Gonzaga to the Big 12

Shorter commute times than Big East I suppose, so conference makes sense. I'm also impressed because it wasn't that long ago that the Big 12 looked the most dead of the major conferences.

The Zags are constantly in rumors like this. I wouldn’t rule out the Pac-12 adding SDSU, SMU and the Zags as basketball only. I’d like to see them in a more competitive conference.

I wanted Zags in BE they definitely fit the profile of every school in the conference except for Yukon.

Geography just makes it crazy tough.

A Power Conference with Football money makes it much more attractive to Gonzaga. Another example of college FB, tv ratings and betting and $$$ pushing BB aside.

Like we haven't experienced that before.

This move won't kill the WCC, but it will really hurt. Their post-season tournament always sells out the 8,000 capacity Orleans Arena. Without Gonzaga, I doubt they'll get 4,000. History and loyalty, in college sports, are concepts that are gone with the wind.

Losing BYU and Gonzaga would be a big hit. They would be down to 8 teams as well.

If they look to replenish their members, they might consider Seattle, Denver and Grand Canyon. They all fit the general conference profile, but Gonzaga can't be replaced. BYU was always destined to leave. I just thought it would be to the PAC 12 or back to Mountain West.

If I'm Pac-12 I'd just invite St. Mary's and Gonzaga and play with 10 football teams. If that rule about no conference championship without 12 teams still exists, petition (or sue) the NCAA.

That conference can still exist and have entertaining football as long as no one else jumps ship. I keep hoping that at some point some teams stand up to the SEC and Big Ten. It would be a shame to see a great basketball conference die.
