@Georgetown, Sat. Jan. 20, Noon, FS1/570AM

We have done terribly against Georgetown down at their place for a number of years. In fact we never beat a JT III coached team down there. The last time we beat Georgetown on the road was January 18, 2003 (fifteen years ago) when Craig Esherick was coaching Georgetown and Mike Jarvis was coaching St. John's. Since then we are 0 and 12 in games against them on the road and lost those twelve games by a combined total of 192 points (an avaerage of 16 ponts a game).

Well now that the JT III era is over maybe we will fare better against the Patrick Ewing coached Hoyas. I have not been impressed with Goergetown so far this year and would like to think we could beat them, recent history aside.

Fortunately, we don't have the same personnel over that time frame, I think we breakthrough vs. G'town.

I will be at this game. So far, I'm 0-2 having witnessed the ASU and Providence losses. I really hope the third time is a charm....

I expect a win also but only if Alibegovic accidentally pokes Jesse Govan in the eye. Hopefully we do a better job on him than last time.

Very much looking forward to paying Georgetown back for them beating us at the Garden a short while ago.

I hate losing to Georgetown, and until I read this thread I was not aware of how long ago it was since we beat them on the road. I guess the 0-12 covered 15 years because of the unbalanced BE schedule when we were the Big Beast.

JSJ, your mojo at the Georgetown road games all these years hasn't had that magic effect.

JTIII had some good years but over 15 years we had some decent teams and getting beat down there by such a large average margin, has me wanting to see us win tomorrow by at least 17 points. Doubt that will happen though.

as we know, anyone can be smug with a lot of Ws
the proof of who we are is during times of Ls
no fun but we persevere
(Jeff Hofstedler said recently on FAN that's exactly what he decided to do - persevere - until Phil Simms got hurt and JH's opportunity arose)
the Ls though painful now, will make future Ws even more sweet

let's just 'keep the faith' :)
we will survive
we are St. Johns

I agree we should get our first W tomorrow. Kind of frustrated that I will be on a plane from Charlotte to Sarasota during most if not all of the game. Oh well.
SS&G, I just started the Grant biography by Chernow and looking for that to take my mind off missing the game while in flight. If I'm lucky, I'll deboard in time to catch the end on my phone. Go Johnnies!

Not news that we have to stop Govan and Dickerson. Both can hit the three and rebound. Owens and Clark should be in their jock strap outside. Should get many turnovers again as they are terrible ball handlers. Don't see any other threats other then Mosley..

A positive side to this team is that they have played some of their best basketball on the road. That effort has usually resulted in a competitive loss but let's hope it results in a win tomorrow.

Give me an OT win and I will be happy.

We'll lose in ot.

with 5 real players, we can't afford ot. With extra time, there will be more fouls.
7 or 8 real players then who cares about OT, but can't with only 5.

Despite 12 straight road losses to Georgetown, over 14 seasons, by an average of 16 points per game, plus our 0 and 7 in conference record we are listed as just a 1 1/2 point underdog tomorrow.

Hopefully we play well and win.

Honestly kind of surprised we're even an underdog. Definitely feels like a game we should win. Would be our first "upset" of the season....

Eventually the law of averages has to have some weight right? We can't continually keep losing games we're favored in or narrow underdogs in.

Unfortunately Adam our 6'11 kid also has to have some weight. Especially when Jesse Govan can take him both inside and outside.;) I am not sure the law of averages applies to any Georgetown-St. John's game however. In Mullin’s greatest year as a player didn't Georgetown beat us 3 out of 4 times we played? While it is statistically possible, those smart kids at Georgetown always seem to be better in math.
