Will be their NFL rules analyst, as well as doing the same work for college basketball coverage (I believe, the first one ever for our sport).

I think the rules analyst for NFL coverage is overused. They should be there just to clear up unclear rules (like the catch, though they usually cause more problems with their explanations). On every replay they go to these guys, and on some of them, it's so obvious, that I don't think it's necessary for them to be on camera.

For our sport, a good situation for a ref to do something like this would be the end of regulation of our game against Butler this year, as an example. I'm talking about when Butler threw that long out of bounds pass, and they initially ruled it off Clark. After they overturned it, someone like Steratore can explain to the audience why time was put back on the clock (I think we went from 9.5 seconds to 11.1 seconds). We know that, but someone watching for the first time, probably does not (and there are a lot of first time watchers come NCAA tournament time).

After every iffy play, just have these guys film a short video for online consumption. Twitter maybe?

Then the broadcast can put up a scroll saying "go to XXX for more detail."
