Garden Doubleheader

A MSG doubleheader that would be great to see: St. John’s-Rutgers, Fordham-Seton Hall. Four local schools playing that would sell tickets. Rutgers has already announced bits of their OOC schedule (Bucknell, Columbia, Coppin State) and how weak can you get? St. John’s needs a better OOC schedule than in the past while Seton Hall has been scheduling strong opponents. This would be a great boost for metropolitan basketball.

We don’t need to provide any more garden appearances for our NJ counterparts IMO.

Not a bad idea.

However, queue the Iona, Rick Pitino acolytes in 5,4,3,2,…

Maybe have more than 5 home games at the Garden (One vs UConn which is torture). And enough with the noon starts.

Our whole "you get to play at the Garden" recruiting pitch is really stretching an actuality which is play in front of 4,000 fans and a good chunk are rooting for the other team.

Not necessarily those matchups- what I would love to see is something similar to what the Maui does- 8 teams - every team gets 3 games.

Call it the Tri State / NYCvsNJ / King of NY Classic…whatever corny name fits. Ton of D1 programs in the area.

SJU/Seton Hall/Rutgers/Iona/Hofstra/St Peter’s/Stonybrook/Rider/Wagner…etc

Think a full slate of games (4) over a 3 day period would sell well.

More Garden games always welcome. But, in reality, only SJ, Rutgers, SH, Iona, Fordham and maybe Manhattan have any chance of selling tickets. Let’s start with one doubleheader and try to build back local interest. It will take more than one year but it could be a beginning.

Add Colombia as well
