Funny Story

I was getting coffee in town this morning and met a fellow who was wearing a very nice Manhattan College jacket.

He told me that his son plays lacrosse for the Jaspers and that he was at St. John's yst. for a scrimmage.

He had never been to St. John's before and was raving about the campus and how nice DaSilva is with it's view of the NYC skyline.

I told him that I was at the Syracuse game yst. and how much I hate the Orange.

He then told me he that he is a Georgetown alumnus and hates them just as much as I do.

Did you throw your cup of coffee at him and start screaming "1985"? :)
Great story. Living here in PA, the place is infested with 'Nova grads. They seem to be split down the middle in hating both G'Town and Cuse equally. They don't hate Yukon as much...while to me, Yukon ranks up there with Cuse.

I don't have the same passion toward the Hoyas ever since JT Sr. retired.

JT III seems like a very nice fellow and I really don't hate them the way I once did.

As an aside, I'm going to the game in D.C. next week with two of my buddies, both of whom went to G'Town.

The two teams that get my irish up today are Syracuse and UCONN.

Nice story.

Syracuse and BOEHEIM are number one on my list. At game Saturday and it is horrible to see all that orange. We owe the Cuse BIG TIME for their attitude and Boeheim smugness.

We got Yukon last year. Next year the Cuse and the coach.

Another funny story.

I was at the Garden on Saturday with 4 friends, seeing as I have 4 season tickets, I had purchased an additional ticket for my buddy, and I got on the Will Call line about 50 minutes before the game.

In front of me on the line were 3 or 4 huge guys that very obviously looked like ex-players.

I found out they were Zendon Hamilton and Tyronne Grant. I didn't bother them as I didn't have the opportunity to strike up a conversation.

But here is a tidbit, I overheard them saying to each other:

"This is so weird, seeing all the Orange everywhere; I hated to play 'Cuse at the Garden and look up into the stands and see all of that orange all over the place" . "It just feels weird, man, not good, very weird". I did show them my bright red sweater and they laughed.

Nice guys, at least they seemed so to me.

I live in Syracuse.........I live in a sea of ORANGE. It is a prison for a Redman. I am not quiet (except today) about being an alumnus of SJU. My family, friends, neighbors and acquaintences are all Orange fans. My wife is a SJU fan. That is what I live in daily. The paper in Syracuse writes as if it is the only school in the land. That my friends is a funny and pathetic story......

So am I , I hated Georgetown when Sr was the coach but I seem to like his son.
I can't stand the Cuse or CONNU.

For me, there is Cuse and then eveyone else. No one comes a close second. I despise them so much.

While retrieving my car from a nearby lot on Saturday, I struck up a conversation with a family of avid Syracuse fans who had come down to the game. Their daughter attends St. john's and is a Johnnies fan. They jokingly called her a traitor. She is a hero to me. Young lady, you have no idea how much I admire your courage and wisdom. Glad to have you as a Johnny.

Btw Syracuse fans  , there is an afterlife. Have fun now but we'll see who gets the last laugh.

Very disappointed when STJ announced the former players in attedance they did not announce Zendon but the camera showed his face.

They announced Zman, they didn't announce George Johnson who was right there on Gardenvision. Not the first time George's been omitted while others were called. Guy was a one man wrecking crew averaged over 15 pts. and 10 boards for his career. He should have a banner. Least they can do is acknowledge him when he's at the game.

The 3 ppl I sat with all noticed it. We didn't hear Zendon's name at all.

Can anyone else chime in?

I think George Johnson was the third player with Zendon, Tyronne in front of me on the will-call line. He looked older than the other guys.

I saw them all on the jumbo screen along with others.

I didn't catch all of the names the announcer mentioned.

It's also sad that Zendon & Tyrone had to wait on the Will Call line? Figure the admin would have found a better way to get them to their seats if they were guests?

I dunno, I always hated Conn more then Syracuse because of their '98-99 dominance of us and all the U-C-O-N-N chants ringing through the arena. I imagine my memories of '98-'99 with U-CONN were similar to what '85 was like with G-Town I suppose - hottest ticket in town.

Syracuse's recent dominance of us and the "NY's Team" BS has me fired up now - but when they put 15K in the Garden to our 5K its hard to argue. Until we are a top 10-15 team consistently, we won't own the Garden IMO. Proof is in the pudding over our long history of ups & downs...
