Full court PRESS...

One of those tweeters lifted my Beast of the East avatar photo, which I found after much searching online, and added photos to it. One cool story about me using that photo is that I got a PM from a redmen.com'er who doesn't post much here who recognized the photo, because his sister is one of the cheerleaders in the shot.

The tweets aren't creepy to me, unless the tweeters are more than 30 years old. Tweeters should be in the Sugar Mountain* range.

The whole twitter fan recruiting stuff creeps me out.

Thank you for saying this! I couldn't agree more.

For starters, to stalk (which is pretty much what it is) someone that you have never met, seen, or talked to in real life is kind of creepy.

Also, some fans make it sound like these kids are gods or something. They are not. They are basketball players. And I promise you one thing, we will have a team next year, with or without Sampson and Diallo. But fans act like the world will end without these players, and then they wonder why the players are headcases and have attitude problems.

I'm not a twitter guy, but one of the complaints from the older fans is that the youth aren't connected to the program because they weren't around during the hey day of the mid-80's, in which most of them were not born. This generation uses twitter, and in this day and age twitter-recruiting shows the passion of the youth coming out to support. I'm all for it and love the passion coming back of fans old and young a like.

I have a twitter account that I barely use. I don't like the idea that high school basketball players have thousands of followers as they go through the recruiting process, but this is simply a fact today. In our culture we elevate athletes, and this feeds the notion that these kids are stars before they've scored a single collegiate point, no less attained excellence as a professional player. As for other young adults who message a recruit, geez, that's exactly what the recruit wants - attention and love. In essence, this is what social media is largely about, so to call out athletes on it is out of step with today's internet reality.

Twiter is most definitely not for me but I have to admit the younger generation lives by it.

I will say though reading that link provided that whoever put up the link to Brandon of the Mullin career retrospective was a pretty freaking good idea and I never even saw that video before.

Someone should put up that video that the redmen.com poster did to that song " I'm coming home " because that was a pretty awesome job the poster did.

Does Brandon like tattoos ? Someone should tweet that DLO SJU tattoo because that was pretty cool also

Who knows. Maybe these tweets actually help from you tweeters

This is part of the recruiting process in 2015. Fans on Twitter recognize we need him next year and are doing what needs to be done.

You are correct Beast, I do not post a lot, but I do read every day and it is amazing to me how much information some of you have in advance of the general public. On top of that the knowledge of the high school players we are recruiting is amazing. So while I have not said it previously, thank you to everyone for sharing your information, thoughts and knowledge.

I'm pretty sure all of that is a recruiting violation but the NCAA has never enforced it.

Hey Anthony Mattia

please post more....share your thoughts... don't be a stranger.

Im 24, I have a twitter account, and I think it's really weird to contact a recruit, and as a season ticket holder I'm not even sure if its within NCAA rules for me to do so. These guys may like the attention but it doesnt change the fact that a grown man is contacting a 17 year old and trying to manipulate them into doing something thats within the adults best interest. The school pays Mullin, Matt and Slice bundles of money to recruit players. I dont think they need or want our help.

Not creepy at all if they are coming from fans of the same general age/generation...different world today...would rather our younger fans show passion than sit on their hands like many do at our games
