FS2 with special broadcast...

... of the women's team's away game against Seton Hall on Friday, December 30th.
No commercials, and full access to the locker rooms, and timeout huddles.
I can't ever see a men's team agreeing to do this.

In Brian Mahoney's last season, we played Manhattan coached by Fran Fraschilla. Manhattan was playing well and I believe were favored over the languishing Mahoney team. Dick Vitale was hyping the game up as Manhattan taking over NY while SJU faded away.

They got full access to Fran's locker room and I thought it was a disgrace. It came across to me as a job audition rather than leading a team to victory. Pressure should have been on winning the game, not showcasing yourself. Sure enough despite Fran being compared to Vince Lombardi in Newsday, while apparently being out-coached by Brian Mahoney, St John's won and sure enough we hired Fran. The rest is history.

Ironically, there have been problems with the visuals, and the graphics, but the audio part is working great. I honestly don't think you need the announcers, because it kind of steps on the coaches, in a way. The Seton Hall coach has gotten on one ref six or seven times in the first quarter alone.

19-16 SJU after 1 quarter.

The Seton hall coach is either nuts or is trying to get an acting job.

Bozzella is seriously annoying to listen to

They just mentioned. He wants recruits to watch this to see his passion. So, it's probably a bit phony, in order to attract recruits.

31-29 Pirates with 18 seconds to go in the half.

By that halftime talk, you can tell that Coach T has confidence in his players. Pointed out what went wrong, but also how they can correct it, and did so in a calm, dignified manner. I also like that he mentioned one or two sets that we didn't even run that half, so he's got some tricks up his sleeve for the second half.

Acting job with Snow White maybe... he is about 4'10". Interesting having the coaches mic'd up but it becomes a beating hearing the same message over & over. You have to think the kids tune them out.

The SJU locker room was a broom closet. I liked Tartamella's pep talk though - amazing how many set plays he referenced.

Struggling with turnovers, but hanging in, down 47-46 after 3 quarters.

Seton Hall coach wanted a flagrent foul on one of our girls. Meanwhile, one of his players caught the inbounds with 0.1 left. Once she did that, the quarter was over.

This kid Hilare is from Floral Park HS. Great player in Nassau County last year. Originally was going to another school. Wow, so many SJU turnovers.

Looks like Seton Hall is going to win it.

24 turnovers, and 1-15 from 3 point range, did the Lady Johnnies in tonight.

UPDATE: 64-59 final.

Tough loss on the road. I thought we tied it down the stretch we would find a way to tough out a win.
