Free Throw Shooting

Any news about how this is being addressed.

Yes, here is an exclusive:

In close games the coaches have stressed to keep the ball in D'Angelo Harrison's hands and as far away from Nurideen as possible.

Any chance that they will bring in a free throw shooting specialist that can breakdown the player's styles?
With the importance of F-Ts it might be worth the effort. At least someone please tell the guys on the line to bend their knees.

 For the season:

Harrison is 31-of-40.
Harkless is 16-of-28
Lindsey is 29-of-53
Achiuwa is 24-of-31
Green is 6-of-10
Pointer is 7-of-17
Stith is 5-of-7

4 are good (Harrison, Achiuwa, Stith and Greene) at 66-of-88 (75 percent)
3 are bad (Lindsey, Harkless and Pointer) at 52-of-98 (53 percent)

Watching mempis v geogetown. Both teams shooting great foul shots under pressure If we did that we would be undefeated georgetown hangs on to win by 3 Thus the major importance of foul shooting You can not go anywhere unless as a team you shoot it wellI

Check for hitches and correct any. Then, of course so much of this is psychological . It's like the pressure of short putts in golf. Then to build up confidence, practice, practice, practice. Try to simulate pressure situations here.

Speak to their moms about it.

After that, it's tough stuff. There are some guys that just can't handle that kind of pressure. Opposing coaches smell it and ice them and that really does a job on them.

You try to keep them off the court in the last few minutes.

It exacerbates our problem because we have no depth .

Practicing foul shooting can help but a lot depends on how it's done. Shooting on your own (even in the hundreds) won't hurt but may not help that much either. Why? It's different than a game when you may be tired or nervous or thinking more about everyone looking at you than about making the shot. Game conditions can't be recreated but they can be simulated. You can Incorporate foul shooting into your scrimmages complete with whistles, lining up the players, being watched by your coaches and teammates, etc. It takes time away from the play but if the pecentages are atrocious can you really afford not to it?

I'd just like to see some sort of change somewhere. It's a simple process that doesn't require all the ball spinning and hand changes they use. Anything more than three bounces and up is just a sign of hesitancy and discomfort. I don't see much softness at the rim and some of the misses are really ballistic.
