Frank Alagia / Class of 1976

Frank is as good a person as he was a ballplayer. When Beaaver Smith was ill, Frank was there for him and his family.

I have a couple of friends who are around 6 or 7 years younger than me who played with Frank in various tournaments. Rick Marsh, who played at Nebraska/ Manhattan and then with the Warriors, and Calvin Bruton who Played at Wichita State and then played and coached in Australia where he is in the Hall of Fame. Both of these gentlemen told me they enjoyed playing with Frank because he was the consummate point guard and knew how to run a team. Frank thought the game. It also didn't hurt that both Rick and Calvin loved to score, lol.

Before he came to STJ, I became friendly with a woman
who worked as a title closer for a real estate title company.
She couldn't stop talking about about how fine her nephew was and his
basketball skills.

She called him Frankie and really loved him.
He truly was a fine point guard.

Both Frank and Beaver are/were great guys. Met them at various events.

It's before my time, but you can see why that 75-76 team was successful. Not only were the seniors on that team good players, but they were good character guys, too.

In the last 10 years, I've refereed a few girl's CYO basketball games that Frank was coaching in. A real gentleman in every way. His daughter was an end of the bench player not getting much time. Not surprisingly, his teams were very well coached, disciplined in every way, and big winners.
