Francessa Wears Hofstra Jacket again on nfl show!

It shows Mikes loyalty to stj,s is zero since he continues to wear the blue windbreaker of a local rival college.
Meanwhile John Minko wears his johnny polo.

Mike once promised to start a scholarship in his moms name at st.j,s several yrs ago after her passing on air.
Sorry to say He never followed his promise thru. I checked into this last yr.

Its clear that lowblow jabs at Norm Roberts during his Presidents dinner put him in Harrys doghouse.
He was wrong but will never admit so he jabs the johnnies by wearing hofstra blue.

Sad but do not care what he does. Hope the program does great in the coming yrs. That is the best remedy for the media who wants us down

Who cares about this useless nothing.
A wasted topic, he doesn't want to support SJU, too bad for him. We will go forward  without his assistance and support.

You really expect him to wear a jacket supporting the team/university that fired him???

I don't see any problem with him wearing a Hofstra jacket.....he owes us nothing and does not need to be loyal to us in any way, shape, or form.

Guys, I live in the DMV the past 20 years, and am nothing but an unfrozen caveman engineer. Who is this "Mike Francesa" that you speak of? :cheer:

Francessa did nothing wrong wearing a Hofstra jacket. He's a radio talk show host, he likes every school. If he wore a SJU jacket people would complain he was biased. . Some guy gave him a Hofstra jacket and he wore it that day. No big deal !
During the Big East championship last year , that game with Rutgers when they ran out of bounds before the game ended, Francessa was siding with Rutgers fans. The job he has, he has to like every NY team or he loses listeners.   After that game, Rutgers fans called up and thanked Francesa for being fair.

He's got the best radio show on the air. He's gotten better since Mad Dog left.

Are you stable?

Is this a joke? :silly:

I happen to agree with John. Sure he is pompous and talks to callers as if they are idiots..... but he is a great listen and really knows his stuff about baseball and football... basketball.. not so much :)

Wouldn't go as far as to call it a wasted topic. He's an alum and is a prominant media figure in NYC. The fact he went from very involved under Fran to an afterthought since is alarming. Having a name like him (regardless of your personal feelings to his show, figure, etc) would be good for the program.

Hes been wearing the same Hostra jacket for at least a year & I never seen Big Mikie ever wear anything St.Johns.
IAM sure he was Paid to host those president dinners & when StJ's was hurting after Jarvis/ NCAA sanctions
He could have shown some school support but never did instead he kissed puconn stuttering Jimmys butt for free
tshirts for his kids.
I disagree about mikes show being better w/out DOG!
Mike has become very nasty towards the jets & has become very nasty to his callers too.

He is prominent, and an alum, but never was a prominent alum.

Is this surprising? Think about it - I've never read a single post or heard a single comment from any SJU alum from his era remembering Francesa at all - not as a gym rat, not as a fixture at games, not even as a guy on campus. I don't think he abandoned SJU, just was never a diehard redman.

I'd imagine he was much more content sitting at home with a huge bowl of Doritos watching Yankee games as a kid, rehabbing his chronically bad knees that denied him a chance at the Yankee centerfield lineage (in his own mind).

Who cares about this useless nothing.

Not disagreeing but notice I never called him a prominent alum. Just an alum and a prominent media figure. For a guy who lives and breathes sports I'd love to know why he is the way he is to his alma mater. Especially more about how after Fraschilla it took a turn for the worst.

Moose, I agree that its disconcerting to have an SJU alum as one of the most well known sports talk show hosts in the country turn his back on St. John's.

I think a lot had to do with the President's dinner. Francesa hosted it for several years, always strung them out till the last minute before committing, and treated it as if it were a CYO awards banquet. The last time he was asked he did the same, ill prepared with his comments and shot from the lip, and showed up in a rumpled brown suit (probably the one he wore to work (its a black tie affair). His MC'ing was a joke, and the next year he wasn't asked back. Bruce Beck on the other hand, has done a marvelous job mc'ing the event, clearly working hard to be prepared, and has been extremely gracious in his support and admiration of the school. One of Beck's comments was "I went to Rutgers, but I bleed St. John's Red". Another was "My entire has grown by the Vincentian's example to help and poor and neediest among us. My children and I volunteer at the Bread of Life soup kitchen each year, and have grown immeasurably by that experience."

So, Francesa may have gone here, and he obviously has had a big falling out by not following up on his pedge of establishing a scholarship in his mom's name. But for my money, Beck has been the true Redman, by his support of the university.

I am thrilled to hear that Fatso is wearing Hofstra gear. The less of a connection there is between him and St. John's the better. Now if only we could get Charlie Rangel to deny that he ever attended St. John's Law School, then we would really be on to something.
