francesa hangs up on calipari

Francesca isn't a good radio sports talk personality either. Plus we all know he is in love with Boeheim

What an embarrassment that Francesa would be so rude as to challenge Calipari's ability to coach X's and O's while in conversation with him. It's one aspect of the outward simplicity of basketball that a blowhard like Francesa can believe he can attest to what a guy knows about X's and O's by simply watching a game. Few fans or announcers would do the same for a football coach. I'm not saying that guys like Calipari, or Lavin for that matter, are brilliant tacticians or not. I'm just saying that either knows far more about basketball than the average fan, and watching games, most of us can only go by outcomes. In that regard, Calipari has done just fine. On the other hand, Lavin is running out of time to prove he is worth renewing at his pricetag.

I've seen so many people in the media and even fans totally take this Francesa/Calipari story the wrong way. These two have been friends for more than 30 years, and they LOVE to bust each other's chops. If you actually watched the two of them in studio together, they spend the whole time getting on each other for a whole bunch of stuff. This idea that Calipari called back in and the two of them got in a huge fight is utter nonsense. I'm tired of reading articles and watching segments on TV where people who have no idea what they're talking about keep weighing in on this.

They did seem to have a bromance going on before this, which is what struck me as really odd. Mike always praises Cal at every turn. Anyone that thinks Cal isn't an outstanding coach in addition to being an elite recruiter is just a fool. it's not easy to gel first and second year players year after year. This past season was a very impressive run and would have likely resulted in a title of Cauley-Stein stayed healthy.

The job Calapari did in the tournament really impressed me. I did not think they would make the finals before the tournament started.

Cal was in the studio for an hour before this call. these guys have a great relationship and the interview consisted of tons of playful banter. Grancessa is obnoxious, arrogant, and disrespectful. Howevet, his ability to be brash and brutally honest, in my opinion, contributes to his popularity.
