Despite threatening weather the 28th annual Fr. Dorr Golf Classic went off without a hitch yesterday at The Hempstead Golf Club (where approximately 66 SJU grads are members).

Believe it or not, it has never rained during the event in its nearly 3 decade duration.

For those not aware, Fr. Dorr has been at St. John's since 1975 and has been a priest for 57 years !

A great, great man, he is also a passionate fan of the SJU basketball program as many of you know.

Over the 28 year run of the outing over $3 million has been raised for scholarships.

Kudo's to Fr. Dorr and double alumnus Paul Scalifani for organizing a very successful day.

Bill Wennington made the trip in from Chicago and needless to say he is very optimistic about the future of the program under his "old" teammate.

As a side note, you could not find a nicer person than Bill.

Pat Fogarty, who won 3 individual Big East titles as a SJU golfer (he played for the late Doc Gimmler) also participated as did St. John's legend, and SJU all-time season scoring average champion, Billy Schaeffer.

Last but certainly not least, "Bill The Truth" also participated.

The day was great fun !
