Fox Sports 1 hosting on campus event- starts with

Curious your thoughts on how they have been lackluster to date?

I have watched the Fox Sports 1 studio show a handful of times and have been unimpressed.

Thank you.
Rome wasn't built in a day. They are not going to top ESPN in 2 months. The shows are hokey but in the same light I don't watch those shows on ESPN either. I watch ESPN for games.

One way Fox Sports 1 can get better in a hurry: End Regis Philben's show, and replace it with, oh I don't know, two guys staring at the ceiling for an hour.

Seriously though, I am interested to see how their college hoops coverage goes. Will they have reporters on-site Friday? Or, will all of the commentary come from the stuido? I'm also interested in their college hoops studio show in general.

Is any college basketball still shown on network television? Why don't they show a few Big East games on Fox.

I actually like the late night Fox Sports news show at 11. They have some interesting commentators like Gabe Kapler and Donovan Mcnabb.

I tend to agree, they're coming along at about the speed I expected. I think fox's college basketball coverage will be fine. Raf and Gus should be fine.

If anything, my only concern is that this first season, even if we're good, we might fly a little under the radar because fox isn't reaching the same audience as espn right now. And I question how much the espn guys are going to talk about the Big East without any games on their network.

But in the long run fox will be fine. Takes awhile to change people's viewing habits.

Fox Sports 1 hosting on campus event- starts with DePaul.

** Let's hope that FoxSports1 knows what they are doing because thus far in its short history it has been lackluster.

To clarify, it doesn't start with DePaul. It's just that a website called ChicagoNow.com highlights DePaul over the balance of the conference. As has been discussed in many other threads they will visit events at every BE campus over the course of the two hour program, including SJU, and I am pretty sure DePaul will not be the star of the show unless the ghost of Ray Meyer shows up.

To clarify, it doesn't start with DePaul..... .

OK.. If fox doesn't start it's visits with DePaul then which school does it start with? Thanks.

It starts with a studio show talking about how excited Fox is to be exclusive home of the new BE. Then it goes somewhere, and I bet they do a quick trip around all of the venues before spending any significant time at any one of them. Better question is WTF does it matter which one they go to first, but if I were a betting man I'd say either start with the top name recognition coach (either Wright, JTIII or Lavin), the top player (McDermott) or the top returning BE team (Marquette based on last year's tourney).

FWIW nowhere in that article does it say it starts with DePaul, though.

Interesting choice of the schools they chose to send reporters to, and the ones they will be covering only via satillite.

Also, congrats to Tarik Turner on his new gig.

I'm actually really impressed and I love the energy partnering with Fox and UA is bringing. I think FOx is big league across the board...investing big money, getting huge names, releasing a big time app in such a short time.... I'm sure the studio shows and filling 24 hours of air time is much more difficult than broadcasting games. This whole thing is coming together so quickly.
