According to the Holy Land of Hoops site, FS1 is airing this event on Friday Oct 25, from 9:00 - 11:00. Can anyone confirm or post a link to this, I did not see any mention of it on the FS1 website.

After some digging I being told that there was a tweet from the Big East stating the following "BIG EAST Tip-Off Party broadcast set for 9-11 p.m. ET on Oct. 25. All 10 teams will be featured with live coverage"

I am not on the Twitter so I can't confirm but it seems to make sense as several schools have announced that they will hold their "Midnight Madness" event on the 25th.

didn't i see somewhere our midnight madness was september 27th?

Yeah the October 25th event is being billed at STJ as "10pm Tumult"

But seriously the Midnight Madness moniker is meant to mean the first practice of the season to traditionalists and practice can start pretty early now so October 25th clearly isn't that. Suggest those calling Oct 25 Midnight Madness should come up with another name.

Nobody starts at midnight anymore anyway, so the term in general, should go..

September 27 is the start of official practice. I thin Fox Sports 1 asked the Big East schools to move their "Midnight Madness'like" events to Oct. 25. They probably need the extra time to fill out announcing and off-camera crews.

So let me be the first to officially throw this out there..for those that won't be on campus on the 25th, anyone interested in having an "Official Redmen.com 2014 Tip Off" event? Some people have talked about having some informal gathering to start the season, maybe at a sports bar somewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of sports bars around the City that would give us a nice deal with wings or drink specials if we have enough people going. Fox Sports 1 on the big screens, fellow SJU fans & good food.....just an idea.

If you're watching on TV don't expect to see too much of us as airtime will probably be split somewhat equally between the 10 teams.

I think you're right, from what I read all 1o teams will be covered, still it's 2 hours so there should be plenty to go around.

2 hours = 88 minutes of airtime or less with intro and outro probably 80 minutes of team coverage or 8 minutes per team. ;)

Why not do it during the Wisconsin game?? Also this way we can all prematurely go bridge jumping TOGETHER if the game doesn't go so well.

it's never at midnight anymore. it's like saying the ntsb has the black box after a plane crash when the box is always bright orange.
in other words, the september 27th date is pushed back to october 25 to placate fox sports?

The Wisconsin game could also work but given the potential for a later tip-off b/c of the location of the game, we may need to hide all sharp objects away by halftime, especially if members have had a few adult beverages lol.

Wisconsin game would be a great idea.

I will throw out Brooklyn as I have contacts with numerous bars there and could get a deal going.

I believe the game is going to be at 8pm. That is the time they have on the arena's website.

I think location will be the biggest hurdle, along with getting people to want to hang around for a few hours on a Friday after work (speaking of the alums obviously, not the students). I'm not sure that we can get a high turnout in Brooklyn, remember our poor showing at Barclays last year lol. As for me it's not an issue but there will probably be more interest if it's in Queens or Manhattan, that's my guess at least.

I'd be interested.
