I would love to see a game between former Redstorm bb players and our current team for a charity event.Who would support such an event?

Years ago I sent an email to the school during the Norm years suggesting they look into maybe doing a Hoops Alumni basketball game at Carnesseca and a memorabilia auction after the game with proceeds going to benefit the athletic program.

Got some dumb response from the staff. Or maybe it was good response and my idea wasn't so good.

Oh well. I'd have paid to see it

i'm going with dumb response from the staff. i would love to know the actual wording they gave you. i would pay to attend.

I would pay as well. I keep thinking about what Mike Tranghese said after the SU & Pitt announcements regarding how much he is going to make sure he will support Providence. I feel that way even more now about St. John's. With all this uncertainty regarding the future of the conference I think it's important for us to support the school in whatever way we can financially.

For a long time I thought this would be a great fundraiser. Other D1 schools do this. I had a friend, even at close to 50, who would work on his jumper and play in his schools alumni game (he is the all time leading scorer). He said he would make sure he'd hit one or two shots quickly, then feign an injury so his age diminished skills wouldn't be evident.

Unfortunately, the likelihood is that too many of our aging heroes are like us, aging and struggling to stay in shape. The ones that are young to still play are likely to be playing elsewhere for money, and the liability of a dumb injury or their schedules would diminish their interest as well.

It's still a great idea, but I don't think it will ever happen here.

I think the school should start a oldtimers game with a mix of different hoops alumni spread out on 2 teams to even out age etc that would raise $$ & a auction of sort after.

I think it would be cool to see Boo Harvey play ag. Mark jackson

I love the oldtimers idea and now the time is the time to do it with the nba lockout.

We could Alumni vs current players, or just an Old Timers Day at Alumni Hall:

Louie could coach one team Brian could coach the other team (with Lavin, Keady and the gang helping out)

Maybe have the 80's guys play the 90's guys.

Or just split the team up randomly.

If Ron Artest could twist an ankle on dancing with the stars, he could come back for the alumni game.

It would great to see Mark Jackson ,Chris Mullin,Billy Goodwin, Jeff Alan and many others in St.John's colors playing together again for fun against our kids.Who wouldn't love to see that?Priceless and most intertaining I think.Lets try and get it done. Please someone with inside connections to St. John's administration ,try to make it happen.I am sure there will be alot of support from the fans.
