FWIW...was at The Cardinal Hayes/Bishop Loughlin game this afternoon (Hayes won) and "ran into" Billy Singleton, who is now the lead assistant coach at Nyack College.

Bronx native Billy Singleton enters his second season as the Lead Assistant Coach with the men's basketball program under head coach Jason Crafton. He is heavily involved with the program serving as a lead recruiter and player development coach. In his first year with the program the Warriors were the most competitive they've been in recent years. Nyack led the CACC in steals (8.1) and also finished 3rd in offensive rebounds (13.7) while also placing 2 seniors abroad to play professionally.

Prior to joining the Warrior staff, Coach Singleton worked with the NBA International Program assisting with clinics abroad. His college coaching experience includes stints at Iona College (Video Coordinator - 2012-2014) and St John's University (Director of Operations - 2007-2010) respectively. He was also the director of the heralded New York Guachos AAU program from 2010-2012.

"Coach Singleton is a seasoned veteran with great recruiting ties. He is also a superb on-the-court teacher of the game and will be heavily involved with developing Nyack forwards. I am excited to have him as our Lead Asistant. This is a tremendous addition to our program" - Coach Crafton

More on Coach Singleton:

Singleton was a three-year letterwinner at St. John's and co-captain as a senior in 1991, playing for coach Lou Carnesecca and alongside greats such as Malik Sealy, Jayson Williams, Jason Buchanan and Robert Werdann. He played in 96 career contests, averaging 8.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds with a .478 field goal percentage. He was a member of the 1989 St. John's NIT Championship team, and is notably remembered for joining Sealy in carrying Carnesecca off the court following the coach's 500th career win on Feb. 2, 1991.

Following commencement from St. John's, Singleton enjoyed a 16-year playing career abroad, with stints in Australia, France, Uruguay, Ireland, Chile, Israel, Cyprus and most notably, England, where he remains 4th on the British Basketball League's (BBL) all-time scoring list. Singleton spent a combined 13 seasons playing in the BBL, capturing the league's championship with the Leicester Raiders, Cheshire Jets and Scottish Rocks.

After spending one season as an assistant coach with the BBL's Cheshire Jets, Singleton spent the 2005-07 seasons as head coach. With Cheshire, he was responsible for all on-court operations of the club, including: team selection, player development, practice and game preparation while also managing the team's budget.

Singleton attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School. He is the nephew of current Chicago Bulls Assistant Ed Pinckney, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1985 Final Four with Villanova before a 12-year NBA career.

Thanks. Billy's one of my all-time favorites. In high school, they were comparing him to Wes Unseld because of his great outlet passing. Unfortunately, knees started giving out on him early and limited his game at the collegiate level. Smart, tough, heady player, and, as noted, a terrific outlet passer, and perhaps most importantly, a great team player.

Wow! Nyack College sent two players abroad to play professionally. I guess all you need to play somewhere is to be young and American. I missed my calling! ;) :)
