Fly's Open, Austin Peay!
I remember the chants, "Let's go Peay, let's go Peay, let's go Peay." :cheer: Lines to the men's room were always quite long when they played.

You have to put the 2 correct sentences together so it makes sense.

"The fly is open
Let's go Peay "

Sad for Fly, who (if allegations prove true) is likely out of chances. Extremely sad for all the kids who look up to him.

Sad for Fly?

Sadness is reserved for parents who lost a son or daughter to heroin. Sadness is for lives destroyed by drug addiction, the crimes committed by those who never would have contemplated jaywalking.

Sadness is not for a guy who peddled junk.

I do know what you mean though.

Beastie, is a user becoming a pusher a form of social contagion?
Sent to me by one of my psychiatrist consulting partners.

What about the pusher who is a casual user? Or not a user at all? It aint black and white, and this coming from someone who grew up in one of the worst drug infested nieghborhoods in NYC. So my knowledge doesn't come from some article or book, it comes from the people that I grew up with, including immediate family members.

Monte, the question I always asked was "Tell me who this person was the day before they used for the first time?"

Monte, the question I always asked was "Tell me who this person was the day before they used for the first time?"

I have seen people use for the first time(and continue) for myriad reasons: Peer pressure, trying to be cool, following the footsteps of a an older sibling, loneliness/isolation, etc etc. I have seen happy kids and disillusioned kids use. I have seen kids from solid loving families and from fractured families use. I've also seen middle aged white guys flood a neighborhood with drugs, and I despised those people. And trust me when I tell you, I was no goody 2 shoes. I watched this one particular MF use kids to peddle junk for him to other kids, all the while acting the father figure. And I watched the admiration these kids had for him. He eventually died a painful death, and I can't say that I felt one ounce of sympathy for him. I guess my point is that there's no blueprint for why someone uses initially, and continues to use. IMO legalizing drugs is condoning drugs. And from my experiences, being a parent and keeping your kids off drugs is a tough enough challenge without the government condoning(and promoting for $$$$) usage.

Research from ACES study begun at UC San Diego under V Filetti MD showed strong relationships between SA disorder in adulthood and childhood physical and sexual abuse. Wikipedia notes on ACES worth reading. I was trained initially by recovering addicts that went on the tiers at Rikers to recruit Phoenix House residents.
