I am hoping to connect with my fellow Redmen friends who Winter in Florida. Right now I am feeling pretty good, so hopefully after 7 years they have the formula to keep me bright and able to lead a more active lifestyle. Thanks go out to all who have been supportive!!

I'm glad Comcast carries the Fox Sports Network since I was able to watch most of the SJU games last winter, my first in North Palm Beach. Of course, I ended up scowling most of the remainder of those days….but it's a new year, new hope.

Check with Comcast as their new X1 system carries so many sports channels.

Glad to hear you're feeling better NS. Have a great winter and hopefully watch a lot of wins!

Hi Bill:

Glad to hear you're doing well. I'll get in touch when we arrive at the end of November.

So glad you are feeling "pretty good". Keep enjoying the warm weather and hopefully we year rounders won't freeze or be buried by a lot of snow.

Not to hijack the thread..... but what's a nice beach town in Fla that a couple and their young kid could go to and chill for a week (in the fall) without massive crowds?

Check out Englewood, Florida. Great prices, terrific beaches. Southwest Fl.
just below Venice and Sarasota

If you prefer the waves of the East Coast and want warm weather, I'd suggest you stay on the sosuther end of the East Coast; say from Jupiter all the way South to Ft Lauderdale. Last winter it was about 10 degrees warmer on average than
the Northern half of Florida.
I'm in North Palm Beach about 10 minutes South of Jupiter and 15 minute North of West Palm and there are places to rent in every price range. Lots of beach options, shopping malls, parks, boating, fishing, many family friendly restaurants etc. Candidly, I find most of Florida in the Fall to be easy to travel as the winter crowd hasn't arrived and rental prices are reasonable.

In my opinion, there are no better beaches than Fort Myers Beach. Nearby Sanibel Island is also a great place to spend a week.

Normally, the weather is great in December -- 75-80 degree highs. But you never know when a cold front might dip down and knock the temps down a little. If you need any more info about the area, I'd be happy to advise.

Looking for a hideout to avoid DH at the first game :)

Actually, Caladesi Island is one of the nicest beaches in the US, just north of Clearwater Beach. Sanibel and Captiva are awesome.

Caladisi Island is untouched and a super place to visit. My favorite is a nearby 4 acre family beach/ bird sanctuary/ fishermans's paradise/ and wind surfer playground in Tarpon Springs. It's very little known Howard Park on the Gulf and has the best sunset watching in the area, It's 20 minutes to Clearwater Beach. It's just north of Caladisi Iss, it's on the nature coast and it's in Tampa Bay with big time sports, fine museum, great shopping , a nearby big city with a multi cultural atmosphere and restaurants and the best beaches in the USA. Plus, the rents and hotels are less than half of those in Naples, Miami, Sarasota and Ft. Lauderdale.
Most people down here see October and November as the best months of the year even though Feb to -May is grand. . Warm, no humidity, and no snow birds, yet. They are great when they come down but traffic and dinner reservations become a problem because of the crowds.
They haven't found Howard Park yet! Google it; you will e surprised. Nearby Dunedin is a great place to stay and hang out. They have a party or a show every day of the year. Money Magazine calls it one of the best places in America to retire comfortably.

There's a really nice low brow bar restaurant in Dunedin called Kelly's, with a homemade ice cream place across the street. There's a local pretty cheap seafood chain Crabby Bill's near Indian Rock beach further south that I like. I'll check out Howard Park next time I'm in the area. In general though, the further north you are in Florida can have a dramatic effect on temperature some winter days. I really like Key West, even if the beaches aren't so great.

Beast, Kelly's is one of the great places in America, It's a combination gay bar, (Blur) cocktail lounge (Chick-a-boom room), night club, open air restaurant (Kelly's), magnificent diner, and party showplace. There ain't nuthin' like it in the world especially on Halloween and Mardi Gras. After Mass on Sunday you have an hour wait for a table for brunch. The high school bagpipe band plays on the street every week to raise money for their trips to Scotland and to amuse the snow birds.
There is a three star and a four star restaurant within one block of the place and the best Mexican restaurant on the globe is 4 doors away. One block away is a bar that serves $2 PBRs in their own special brown paper bags, all day every day. Aside from all the Scotsmen who live there, it is party central in that part of Florida. Call me when you are down, I need another running mate in the neighborhood. Don't forget Ozona Blue just north of town: a formerly private yacht club with a solid menu and a view.
