Fire Boeheim

The guy has lost 5 out of the last 7 games with top tier talent. His team just lost in the first game of the ACC tournament to an unranked team that shouldnt even have been on the same court as them. Boeheim cant coach anymore, all the losses are his fault especially that double technical for arguing with the ref, he single handedly lost that game for Syracuse, he should be fired and replaced immediately.

Now How ridiculous does that sound? that is what all of you who are calling for Lavin's head sound like. Laving has brought in top recruiting classes and has increased the revenue, the profile, and the wins for this program in addition to getting the NYC media talking about SJU positively again.

SJU has NEVER won a National Championship, and only been to 2 final fours. Your expectations are higher than they should be. Lavin is getting us to where we think we should be just not as fast as some delusional fans wish it would be.

Is this thread a joke? Guys like Bohein get the benefit of the doubt. Coaches who have shown little to nothing are fair game for criticism.

yes its a joke, its a way of putting things in perspective for some people here.

Remember Boeheim is a guy who took some 30 years to win an National Championship.

You say Lavin has shown little to nothing? Lavin has 7 NCAA appearances in 10 seasons as head coach, 4 Sweet Sixteen, and 1 Elite Eight with a total 205 games won under his belt. I'm not going into his recruiting accolades.

So when you say Lavin has shown little to nothing I quite honestly have NO IDEA WT# YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

Just to clarify one thing from your post...SJU HAS won a National Championship, more than one in fact. They have never won a NCAA National Championship.

This is not a great analogy. Jim Boeheim has won National Championships and has Syracuse in the top 25 nearly every single year. He has implemented proven defensive and offensive systems, and routinely gets kids to buy in and execute that system at the highest level. Steve Lavin has never approached this kind of success, nor has he ever (UCLA included) demonstrated the capabilty to do so.

I don't find any mystery or injustice in Boeheim getting more rope.

He has shown nothing here. You are living in the past. He has one ncaa tourny with another guys players. His team just sucked it up this season.

Aren't all those accolades from another school?

A school that considered those accolades not good enough?

I'm not on the fire Lavin bandwagon but....I'm kinda speechless you'd find a Boeheim/Lavin comparison relevant to any kind of a point. Ironic or not.

No knock on Steve but Boeheim has won what about 950 games second to coach K? The comparison is what is a joke. About like comparing Jim Spenser to Lou Gehrig.

Only someone with the IQ of a cow would attempt to make a comparison btw Lavin and Boeheim.
His team is headed to the tourney, as they did last yr, and the yr before that, and the yr before that....
And no, expectations are NOT higher than they should be for St. Johns. Some of you Lavin defenders seem to think this program is on par with Seton Hall or Depaul with you moronic "were not elite program, we should lower expectations" bs. This guy is not being paid millions to get to NITs.

Whoever thinks this is a comparison between Lavin and Boeheim needs to work on their reading comprehension skills.

I said that calling for Lavin's head after he has consistently shown improvement for this program in every single way you can improve a program is LIKE people calling for Boeheims head just because his team has lost to inferior teams late in the season.

Just making sure its clear, if you are on the Fire Lavin bandwagon, NOTHING will ever be good enough for you!

Not for firing Lavs but sorry your analogy is off.

I love your original post! I got your analogy, Red. You're not comparing Lavin's record to Boeheim's. We all differ in our knowledge of basketball, but I think we're all smart enough to NOT compare Lavin to Boeheim. But the Lavin haters can't see beyond their visceral hatred of the guy. And I'm not referring to the intelligent posters who argue for a new coach in a level-headed way.

Hey Red, all that stuff you just said about Lavin: "7 NCAA appearances in 10 seasons as head coach, 4 Sweet Sixteen, and 1 Elite Eight with a total 205 games won under his belt. I'm not going into his recruiting accolades."
Was that here or at UCLA pal?
Lets see wtf he has done here. First year NCAA with Norm`s seniors. Second year and last year (his recruits) they were young, and still got to the NIT and won a game in it ladst year. This year, NIT again.
Next year if Obekpa leaves, will be NIT again. SO WTF HAS HE DONE HERE??????
NOTHING.

So stop with the BSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Do you read the press? They haven't been speaking positively about us and they most certainly having been speaking positively about Lavin. So I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Guys it is all about South versus North. Cuse didnt have a chance this year, no way were the refs going to allow them to win the ACC tournament. Think about it!!!

Yes, syracuse lost 5 out of 7 games, but they were undefeated before that. They will likely be a 3 seed. We couldn't even make the tourney. They have still had a very successful season, so this analogy really isn't strong.

I know there are a lot of smart people on this forum, who know a lot about basketball. I don't always agree with all posters, but for the most part, the posts have been well thought out and intelligent.

But what the hell happened to peoples' sense of humor!! Seems like everybody is taking this thread so serious and missing the whole point of it. Were you guys all asleep or away when God was adding a sense of humor to your personality? :eek:hmy:
