Obviously we have a big one marked on our calendars in January vs Duke but for the sake of argument, we have three games left before Big East play commences. This team passes the eye test, the improvement of some of these kids from even last year to this season is remarkable.
With that said I don't think this 8-1 start means much moving forward. I believe we must beat St. Mary's, LBSU and Tulane for this out of conference campaign to be considered a success. A loss to any of those three and I'll consider this stretch of the season as "holding serve" rather than positioning ourselves squarely in the tournament.
The win in the carrier dome was huge, but only in terms of our psyche as a fan base and team. That was a big hurdle for these guys, but Louisiana Tech just lost in their gym at the buzzer.
The resume doesn't stack up favorably despite the hot start. It's always a fluid situation but right now we have 0 top 50 RPI wins. For that reason we really need to continue this great run of form and finish 2014 on a winning streak. A 3-0 finish totaling 11-1 would mean so much for this team. It gives us some leeway during BE play in case we have a bad loss or two. Also gives the squad new heights of confidence heading into the final BE season for most. Let's head into 2015 on a rampage!!!!!!!!
