Felipe / The Dominican Dream

IT's really hard to imagine that back around Felipe's junior and senior year of HS, one of his biggest followers was an unknown kid named Alex Rodriguez.

Sorry Beast I can't buy that. Alex and Felipe are the same age. Alex moved away from NY at the age of 4. Felipe didn't come to NY until he was in HS. Seeing Alex speak like he did on the ESPN 30 for 30 seemed to be heavily fabricated. I respect Alex and the career he's carved out since he retired from MLB but he strikes me as they guy who has that gift of gab but often stretches the truth.

You are probably right considering Alex was in the majors by age 19 in 1994. I do recall Rodriguez saying that everyone in his family and neighborhood followed Felipe, and Lopez did have that type of maniacal following among Dominicans in the Bronx - except that A-Rod went to HS in Miami, lol
