SJU President: On-Court Success Key To Improving Fan Experience
In an exclusive interview with The Torch, St. John’s President Brian Shanley shares his thoughts on the state of the basketball program.

Had heard prior to season it was tourney or bust for CMA. Well not only will we not make tourney but season is turning out to be a disaster. Think he will be gone despite some of our posters opinions that Well if he beats the Sisters of the Poor I think he’ll be back. From what I hear Shanley is a true CEO who will make hard decisions. His statement reflects the challenges inherent in getting program inclusive of facilities on solid ground. There is no stash of $ available, but I believe he knows the big enchilada is winning games to maximize ticket sales and donations.
He left PC I surmise with a sour taste in his mouth and seems a competitive leader interested in meeting this late career challenge head on. FS is our only hope, so let’s see if he has a bold move or two up his sleeve. If not, I’ll get Moose to help me acclimate to becoming a soccer fan full time and forget this program.
I know Repole gets beat to death, but I continue to hope Shanley is being proactive to build a relationship and see what type of creative ideas the two can come up with. It goes deeper than just basketball. From what I hear Shanley is a true CEO who will make hard decisions. I wrote similar comments about Shanley contained in the first paragraph in a post I think in the based on a reliable sources impression of him in the "Possible Coaches" thread a couple of weeks ago. He left a school that seems to have gotten it right and I don't believe he will stand for this one not doing the same. From what I hear Shanley is a true CEO who will make hard decisions. Based on his quotes in the article would be surprised if he is not. I think Repole will have a place to sit at the table given the next changeI know Repole gets beat to death, but I continue to hope Shanley is being proactive to build a relationship and see what type of creative ideas the two can come up with.
