Woke up this morning to the below FB post from my buddy Randy. Randy is an NYC basketball and sports lifer, born and raised in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. His bro was schoolyard and high school basketball legend. Randy did not attend St. John's, although his bro nearly did. However like most NYC basketball fans he has a strong connection to the school and program and would support a winning SJU basketball team, especially one lead by another Brooklyn born basketball legend, in a heartbeat. There are tens of thousands of others like Randy out there. If we build it they will come:

"I don't know, is it just me? Maybe it's the lack of possibilities for my Jets, Knicks and Rangers, maybe because it's too early for my Yankees......... But even though I missed yesterday's Big East tournament prelim between 8th place St. John's & 9th place Georgetown, just hearing about the game just now on NY1, searching the net for details about the game, watching the clip, hearing the Garden roar in the background, watching Chris in the middle of a tussle on the court, and the Johnnies winning an important game (for them)......... I got goosebumps..... It was 1984 all over again......... I can't wait for today's game against 1st place Nova..... Yes that will most likely lose, no they won't make the NCAA's. But it just feels different. It feel like the Johnnie's are back....... And that can only be good for NY basketball, God knows we need it. What a great feeling... Looking forward to a game with anticipation....... Thank you Chris Mullin!!!!!!. It's too bad it took so long for the knuckleheads running all of the NYC basketball team to get you back here. You should have played for the Knicks, you should have coached the Knicks, or the Johnnies years ago. But thankfully you're here now.......... GO JOHNNIES!"
