Great quote in that article. He's not a bad guy, he just likes to beat people up"

They have levied huge fines for football programs that storm the field. We stormed the court at uncc my senior year after we knocked off Cincy on espn. Nothing happened thankfully because those Huggins Cincy teams were not the most upstanding kids.

Amazing....he actually connected on a shot.... :cheer:

as reported in the Daily News........

There is a video that's gone viral on the internet of Barkley going into the stands to assault a spectator at an AAU basketball playoff game he coached in Ardsley, N.Y., last week. Barkley coaches his son's team with the Basketball Stars of New York club and the video begins with him shaking hands at midcourt with the opposing coach after a playoff loss. Barkley then walks across the court right to the spectator, reportedly the father of another player, and goes after him by throwing a right. It sounds like several punches are quickly thrown and then Barkley's target ends up on the floor before he is restrained.

Is it wrong that my first thought was how long until his son would be ready to run point for us?

Needs to step up his completion. Not many top recruits come out of Ardsley.......

If I heard correctly it sound like Barkley "You have something to say MF" before throwing the first punch.

He was a man on a mission crossing that court. The father must had said something in the argument before the game to make him search, locate, and attack like that.
I know I wouldn't want to be in that fathers position.

Cliff Huxtable would have shown restraint. (Partial credit to my buddy Dink)

First hand I can tell you that parents and coaches both get too amped up over AAU competition. These were 9 year old kids!!! Barkley started it b y protesting that a kid had played on another AAU team and shouldn't have been allowed to play. From my knowledge, he is correct only if the tournament was an AAU sanctioned tournament (most tourneys on the AAU circuit are not AAU sanctioned). Even if he was correct, that rule is commonly violated, with some kids switching teams mid season, and others playing on multiple teams at once. I'd be pretty certain that after Barkley made a big issue of it, the father in question on the other team rode Barkley pretty hard during the game, or at least had some choice to say.

The end shot is that your record in AAU competition means absolutely nothing. There are no standings, and with typical 4 game tournaments, if you go 0-4, or 4-0, they aren't reported anywhere, so the next weekend you begin at 0-0. You qualify for the national championship by winning regional qualifying tournaments at the end of the season. So, in Barkley's case, at this point in the season there was absolutely nothing at stake by making a stink, and certainly not getting so wrapped up as to belt a guy. As I've said many times, AAU is just a toxic environment, where neither coaches, kids, nor parents enjoy themselves.
