I didn't want to take over Jack's thread on his visit to Providence but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a place to take the family to eat up at Providence? Niece graduating from Johnson & Wales. About 15 of us going and 6 kids under the age of 10. I have been to a few places I like but wouldn't take the kids there. Thanks in advance.

What's not to like about a $7 buffet!

didnt know you were into food porn

I don't know if you and you're family are into seafood, sushi, chines food, etc. but if you are there is a great place in providence called "Jacky's Waterplace and Sushi Bar".

It is an excellent place right on the water in providence and is a classy place that serves great food (I can say from experience) and amazing drinks (according to my parents)

I recommend it, it's an awesome, comfortable place. You might want to place a reservation (we did), to be safe, but when we were in there not all the tables were filled.

It depends how old the kids are (my sister is 9, she loved the place, but it might be too classy for kids under five)

There is food for kids there it's not just sushi and seafood.

Anywhere on Federal Hill, you cant go wrong there. You might need reservations if you are looking for a sit down place. Angelo's & Cassarino's are great Italian places. Caserta's pizza isn't the fanciest place but is the best pizza place in the city. If you go for desert go to Pastiche's, that place is amazing

Some other places: Providence Coal Fired Pizza (downcity), Harry's Bar and Burger (College Hill), or Bob and Timmy's Grilled Pizza (federal hill). If you aren't limited to Providence you could head south for seafood options. The Crow's Nest is about a 20 minute drive from Providence and is family run and has AWESOME lobster rolls.

From 2005 to 2009 I regularly traveling to Providence for overnight visits to watch my son compete on a sport team at Brown. I found no shortage of restaurants of every price range in the City of Providence. I favored Federal Hill and regularly ate at "Siena Restaurant", Andino's and Mediterraneo. Good luck.
