Eye Pokes Query

This is the third time I believe hde did this. There are also some great photos of twiitter of the Iowa center holding down the opposing players arm on the tip. They come off as pretty dirty.

In my opinion, there are coaches who teach nuanced and covert dirty play. Grabbing shirts or shorts, a little shove in the instant before an opponent is about to take off for a rebound, high elbows in a tangle of players. I guess the eye pokes were taught by making players study The Three Stooges.

McCaffrey's responses to the questions about the eye poking leades me to believe that in this case, you are 100% correct.

Where are those clamouring for McCaffrey?

Present and accounted for! I think he would make a great coach at St. John's! In fact, if Chris Obekpa stays he would learn a whole new arsenal of tricks to gain an advantage over an opponent.
Is that what you meant by "clamoring"? ;)

I mentioned before, Harris on Providence going out of his way to poke JB in the eye (no call) and Desrosiers does this thing when he's blocking a shot, he gives a shot to the body with his other hand/fist (never called)
The rough play is one thing but the eye poke just has a level of sleaze to it. A player doing it is scum and if a coach is condoning it, they are worse.

I personally think an eye poke is one of the few instances where a retaliatory kick to the balls is warranted.

that would be a rule I'd endorse. Call it Flagrant 3. Add that penalty to the free throws and the ball.

Is that Moe giving it Curly? Kick in the balls warranted!

Surprised there were no brawls, yeah I wouldn't want to get thrown out of a game.
You miss with my eye sight though, we're brawling.

I watched him coach a couple of years at Siena.
He was a fine coach; the players were good kids; there was
no such nonsense. I seriously doubt he "teaches" or
encourage such garbage.

He should have addressed the question in a professional manner instead of acting like Boeheim did when asked about academic issues at Syracuse.
