Ex-UConn coach Jim Calhoun comes out of retirement

doesn't surprise me at all. St. Joseph's is in affluent W. Hartford, he probably lives nearby. He's a bb lifer and sounded terrible on t.v. AND his wife probably couldn't stand having him around the house all the time.

I hope they have enough money for him to buy 5 star players.

If he is healthy he may just have enough gas in the tank to make this a short stop and return to the big time. Playing games in front of 100 fans doesn't have the same juice as a filled 20,000 seat arena.

I did not want to start a new topic but this pertains to our beloved (lol) neighbors north of the Long Island Sound. Visiting by my Sweetheart here and today's Hartford Courant comments on page 1 of the sports section - after UConn football lost to Memphis 70-31 in East Hartford:

"Do you think 3-3-5 is code for
LETS QUIT FOOTBALL AND REJOIN N THE THE BIG EAST IN BASKETBALL!"

The 70 is the most points ever scored against UConn surpassing the 69 Holy Cross scored in 1919.

I for one do not want this team back in our Big East! Hope the powers to be agree!
all the best.

Calhoun is the greatest coach of his generation - he has pieces of Schrewshwki in his stool - and as a person has given charitably more to society than all of us combined. Like Janice in Goodfellas he can do whatever he wants and those of you who seek to shamed him should be yourself ashamed.

  at this nonsense. Calhoun is nowhere as good as coach K, Tom Izzo or Roy Williams. Stop it dude!

Roy Williams is a great, great recruiter, but I don't think his actual coaching is all-time great. And Calhoun has a winning record against Coach K.

I have to agree with Fun. Before Calhoun, fans were calling for UConn to leave the Big East, believing they could never be competitive with the advantages that the private Catholic schools had.
