Ex-Johnnie Polee / Daily News

Has only good things to say about SJU and says he transferred to be closer to his sick mother.

Nice story. Guess Lavin isn't such a monster after all.

GMAB, who are you going to believe? The kid from whose mouth came the quotes or the geniouses on this board? Sure the kid is probably making it sound better than it probably was but he wouldn't be complimentary if he harbored a grudge. Good luck to the kid. He's certainly peaking at the right time.

Polee could have had a high ceiling as a major contributing role player here. A 4 year player and when Sampson didn't qualify , Polee could have played a major role. I think it was a loss when he left but, the reasons he gives are classy and well founded. Hope he has a good weekend in the Sweet 16.

always liked polee's skillset but he probably would have just been another athletic body in lavin's system causing posters to continue to complain about the lack of three-point threats.

The kid went from tenth man to sixth man on San Diego State. Glad to see him stick with it.

FWIW he would have been 10th man on SD St his frosh year as well. That team went 34-3 and to the Sweet 16. Polee certainly could have grown into STJ and would have been the 6th man as a soph if he stuck around rather than waiting until his 4th year junior year to do so at SD St. That's if PT was the only issue.

During tonight's Arizona game Marv Albert stated that Polee was now considered the second best player on the team.

In terms of performance that gives a team a shot at victory, I was impressed by Polee:
Played within himself including shot selection
Fought hard for rebounds
Took almost 0 plays off on defense.

Was thinking his upside is much lower than Jakarr but right now he is the better player.

Certainly better than Pointer. I guess that's stating the obvious.

That was a great game but if you look up at the make up of the San Diego team. Pretty similar to SJU (but they play better defense and rebound better). They have great athletes but no real scorers. Polee was non existent in the second half after having some easy dunks in the first half. Sheppard is the same make up as Polee and Jakarr and we recruited him as well. They lost that game last night because they couldn't score down the stretch but I love how hard they played defense and go after the ball.

Nick Johnson was clutch and was off all game but came up huge at the end.

San Diego State is a team we should try emulate as we have similar make up. Though again, they have great heart which our squad needs to find. Harrison could be our Xavier Thames next year. Obekpa and Spencer are similar. Pointer jack of all trades like O'Brien. We need our Josh Davis someone who just rbs and boxes out. Rysheed is the one ingredient State did not have that we do!

Thames moves around the court with much more speed and quickness than DLO.
