Evan Daniels on 20-21 Johnnies

So Evan D says Posh will have the biggest impact of the recruits next year and says the two Juco guys will add depth and experience. He doesn’t seem to have a clue that Cole is a JUCO All American, great shooter and scorer and as a result the recruit most likely to start from Day 1. Really?!

One thing we have all learned from watching CMA this year I’d that it doesn’t matter who starts. He will go with the hot hand and he regularly plays 9-10 players a game. Whether Cole starts or comes off the bench makes no difference to me. A lot will depend if LJ returns.
There is no doubt that if LJ returns we have possible starters in LJ, Dunn, Earlington, Williams all of whom finished the season very nicely.
CMA will have to find 20 minutes a game or more for each of Cole, Moore and Posh.
Rotational minutes will be found for Caraher and Wusu.
No clue as to Roberts status for next. I would same the same for Steere and McGriff.

Posh will change the entire dynamic of this team. A true pg is coming here to play. Cole is a sniper and will be the best 3 point shotter we have had in some time.

St Nohns basketball has changed my friends. Doormats of the big east no more. Cant wait till November.

I think the biggest impact will be a true PG in Posh Alexander frees up Dunn so he is not playing the point. Looks like Dunn or Williams can drive a little bit and not have to worry as much getting back on the defensive end.

IMO Cole could turn out to be one the most important recruits in all of college basketball next season.Based on his outside shooting skills , coupled with SJU's desparate need for that skill makes him an extremely important piece in SJU's fortunes.
If LJ leaves that means SJU , one of the worst outside shooting teams without their best shooter. Even if Dunn and Williams show improvement in outside shooting and better skills in the other aspects of the game Cole has to be on the floor for major minutes.

If Williams, Champaigne, and Earlington continue to improve their 3 point consistency, I could see them combining to average three 3’s a game. If their doing that then they have to be guarded and guys like dunn and posh will be able to break down defenders 1 on 1. LJ and Cole will get their 3s regardless. Just need the rest of the guys to be threats.

Really improved his mid range game. With the the staffs ability to develop players and the summer to work out , I expect a much better shooting team next year.

Yeah the point my earlier message wasn't that Cole will start as opposed to anyone else. I'm 100% on board with CMA involving everyone and using his depth to run other teams out of gas. I don't care who starts. Just noting that Evan Daniels characterized Cole as someone who will merely add depth and experience to the team. From what I've watched of him he is not a depth piece; he will be a featured part of the team next year, immediately upgrading our biggest weakness, shooting accuracy and the ability to create offense. And he's not a one dimensional shooter like some of our past would-be 3 point saviors. The kid can flat out ball. If prognosticators are going to do podcasts about each team's incoming class it would be better if they spent time learning about all the players coming in, not just focusing on the local kids they already know.

It's been quite a while since we have had a coaching staff and a group of players that are so easy to root for. I think we are going to have a great season next year.

I am not sure a great season but I think moving from 9th to 6th and possibly 20 wins as has been predicted so far , even though it is very early, is very possible and would certainly make me very happy. Still too many moving parts that have to be completed for next season, Roberts injury and rehab, Steere staying or leaving, McGriff, any possible transfers and possible recruits and grad transfers we may get. Nevertheless this is the best returning group we have had since Lavins last season and may end up being a much deeper class with 10 players or more being able to contribute next season.

Agreed. We have a legitimate shot at the big east crown. No one wanted to see us in the big east tourney this year and no one is going to want to see us in any game next year. This is a tough, scrappy, young defensive minded team that is going to kick the crap out of teams next year.

I think we make a run next year. We compete to win the Big East and go on a deep tourney run. Second weekend at least.

They need a big man or they arent going anywhere

If you were to place a wager as to whether it is more likely that SJU will win the Big East next year or whether the season will be cancelled, what would you bet?
