ESPN's Ratings Plummet 32% over last year's Q

People are only concerned with ESPN because it is a machine and has a high subscriber base.

The reality is that most people who have ESPN are absolutely sick of it and all of their "personalities". From Skip Bayless, to Bill Simmons, to Stephen A. Smith, Chris Broussard, etc., people are tired of ESPN.

All people want right now is another option.

I watched the NFL Draft on the NFL Network as opposed to ESPN and their coverage blew ESPN out of the water. Their analysts are much more knowledgable in every aspect (Mike Mayock for example).

People were begging for NBATV to cover the NBA Draft because again, their analysts are better.

Fox Sports 1 will have a show to rival SportsCenter. They just need the right hosts.
Their college announcers are regarded as some of the best.

FS1 just needs to be the anti-ESPN and they'll be fine.

FS1 seems very serious about being a major player, this is just for a promo and Lavin is interviewed. Can't wait for the All-Star game, looks like we will be featured in a commercial with USC Football, the Super Bowl champs and last year's MLB Triple Crown Winner.....NICE!!!!

Every analyst you just named is primarily responsible for the NBA. So you are saying people are sick and tired of the announcers that cover one part of one sport.

Fox Sports can try to rival with ESPN, but I just don't see them succeeding, at least not any time soon. ESPN just covers way too many different kinds of sports, and is way too big of a name for anyone to take down any time soon.

not only people are sick of the personalities but they are tired of the constant lebron coverage and espn has gotten political lately too.

Call me crazy but I actually like Bill Simmons and really enjoyed the Bilas/Rose/Simmons coverage of the NBA draft. The other guys you mentioned I can certainly do without. I would rather watch Fat Mike than tune into Smith/Bayless show.

Bill Simmons has already been suspended by ESPN and probably won't be around too long at the rate he has been going.

By the looks of the commercial- Georgetown will be hitting a buzzer beater to beat us...can't even let us win in the advertisement lol...different story come the season though

Clip of making of commercial with Lavs in a cameo;

“@GUHoya07: Check out your Hoyas featured in this @FoxSports1 commercial preview. Can't wait to see it during @MLB All Star Game! http://bit.ly/12DUF0b

if you slowdown the commercial from the 3:00 min mark to the 3:05 min mark, you can clearly see the cheerleader in the background with St. Johns on her uniform. and the loosing team wearing Red.

Looks like they are trying to revive the Georgetown - St. John's rivalry.

That's what they get for broadcasting stupid "sports" like soccer, poker and lacrosse. Several weeks ago, I turned on ESPN and they were showing English soccer (For some reason, they called it football. Didn't look like football to me! Someone tell the world, it's called soccer!). So I turned on ESPN2, and they were airing lacrosse. I'd rather watch The Brady Bunch reruns.

I'd rather watch soccer and lacrosse than NBA, NHL or MLB. Funny that. The Poker craze is over, since they won't let you play for real money online. Now no one cares. November 9 didn't help either.

Agree Austour. My three favorite sports to watch are college basketball, college lacrosse and MMA. Fox will be perfect fit for my tastes.

I think ESPN losing Big East basketball is going to hurt. Nothing beats a good college basketball game. Fox1 could really, really hurt ESPN and that would be great for us!

Honestly ESPN has turned me off as of late...Jemele Hill is always playing the race card, Stephen A. Smith is annoying, Skip Bayless is annoying, they call Griffin III a cornball brother, they worship Tebow, and they just seem to over-cover many topics and kill them to death (see Tebow). They do have very funny Sportscenter commercials which I hope Fox picks up on because those are talked about around the office...that's how funny they are. Humor is a great way to get noticed...look at Geico's model. They are brilliant.

ESPN also seems to be trying so hard to become Yo ESPN Raps (playing off Yo MTV Raps). They have stupid rappers on who know nothing about sports and the audience is expected to watch them as if they belong there talking in-depth about sports. They have guys like Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, etc. and they are clearly going for the young urban demographic. Don't get me wrong, some hip hop is great, but don't mix it with sports shows. Hopefully Fox Sports 1 is more about sports and not trying to be the "cool" inner-city sports network to attract young people.

They've got 120 hours of programming per week to fill and more online and they are losing properties as the prices go up due to increased competition of the other new all sports networks (Fox, CBS, NBC) all coming on line. The quality of the programming had to go down and the quality of the personalities as well now that they need 200 just fill all the air time. And folks who do well on ESPN can again raise their prices and leave much more easily. You were too young but when Keith and Dan left ESPN it was a shock, where would they go (they were THE best sportscenter team ever)? Now there's plenty of opportunities opening up positions for guys who never would have made it on screen in the old days. I mean Coachman's got a job there, how selective are they nowadays that they'd employ someone associated with the WWWF. And Skip Bayless is absolutely the worst, lowest form of life I have ever had the misfortune to witness. If I believed in Hell I'd want him to rot in it but since I don't I hope someone water boards him.
