St. Johns was included in espn's list of ten teams that are built for the future. Doesn't really say anything new, but nonetheless is still positive publicity. This is what the article said about us.....

"Only Nicholls State is a younger team than the Red Storm in college basketball, according to kenpom.com. In fact, coach Steve Lavin's club returned just 3 percent of its offense from last year's NCAA run. Now, the Red Storm are led by four freshmen and a junior college transfer and already have a Big East road win at Cincinnati. While there is doubt about Lavin's return this season after surgery for prostate cancer, he is busy on the road recruiting and playing general manager. If he adds another top recruiting class, the Johnnies will be back for good."

"Back for good" -- I like the sound of that. This group is a really strong nucleus, and should be noticeably better even by the end of this season. A few key additions (one already in the bag), and the next few years will be really exciting. Nice to get some good national press.

Rutgers, Michigan, Stanford, Memphis, GTown, Nova, Texas and a bonus team Arizona. Fran wasn't getting real creative here.

You are being very kind to Fran. This is an awful list.

Stanford, Memphis, GTown, Texas, and Arizona have been very good for a long time. Even if they are having down years, no one would be remotely surprised if any of them turned it around quickly.

Michigan may have the best coach in the country. His teams play wonderful basketball to watch.

SJU has been considered a sleeping giant by many.

Rutgers, ok. But if Rice's head explodes, or his crazy eyes cause his players faces to bleed, or the change in conferences hurts them, they could go backwards too.

I'm a very kind guy.

I just hope we don't become spoiled like UConn, Ky, Duke etc. fans and have "kinnipshiins" when we are "only"in the top twenty and have a dozen losses.

Like most here, I see us getting back into being relevant most years and at the very top on occasion.

all the best
