ESPN - Jayson Willams SJU HOF being denounced by his kids

She also wrote a poem about her father and dedicated it: "To the weakest man I know, Jayson."

Yikes.

Not sure the higher ups at St. John's did the proper due diligence before deciding to choose him for this honor. Whether the allegations are true or not (there are always 2 sides to a story), this is not a good look at all.

Not that I condone any behavior that causes harm to others whether emotional or physical.
But lets be serious on this issue. He killed someone (by accident).
If you would go through all of the people in any professional / Collegiate HOF.
You'd have to kick out a bunch of people because of their personal indiscretions.

HOF is based on Athletic Merits.
Period.

Agreed! Very simple

This is perhaps the worst take of all time. This isnā€™t the Canton, Ohio. This is a collegiate program honoring a deplorable human.

So true.

I mean who among us has never shot someone by mistake and then try to tamper with evidence to make it look like the victim shot himself.

Those in glass houses....

My point is that ESPN blows up an article about his neglect as a father....Not that he killed someone.

Which is worse?

Obviously killing someone is the main reason for him not to be honored (if you feel that way).

In this article we are talking about fatherly neglect as the reason.

If we had social media and 24 hour news cycles in the 50's how many names would be hanging from any college rafters based on those indiscretions?

Whether you agree or disagree with the decision to place him in the hall of fame (who are we to judge?), all I'm saying is I hope the school was prepared for this blowback, if they were even aware this would come. Obviously this doesn't make the school look very good.

I hear you 112. However, what someone does to themselves is not something I judge, but when someone chooses to make decisions that result in harm to others, I most certainly judge. Jayson has lived an extremely reckless life. The fact that he only killed one person is nothing short of a miracle.

Not enough people care enough about kids or limo drivers to really make enough of a stink to make St. John's reconsider. However, he did murder his dog in front of Dwayne Schintzius, and PETA loves making more than enough of a stink. . .
