I had the pleasure of speaking with him again tonight (we are long-time redmen.com pals). I started on Paul's site in 1998 or '99. I'm not sure which...either way, I go WAY back and have posted very little in quite a few years...just once in a blue moon. Though at one point, I did post VERY often. Kent convinced me that with my long absence I should not post what I had originally planned...and he was right (he is much smarter than me). So I won't do that.

What I will do is say that after YEARS, I actually think we are slowly going in the right direction. As I told Kent, I'd KILL to have a Mitch Foster on this squad...an underrated guy and EXACTLY the type of player we need....

I hope you all have a really Happy and Holy Christmas and holiday season. Ponds is AMAZING. --GL

Thanks for your comments GL. It has been a very tough 14 years since Jarvis shredded the team. Finally, it looks like we've on the way back. We need depth. We need pieces. But there's some nice talent on this team.
And yes, Ponds is a special talent. As I joke here, he'll be All-World if some of those spinning-twirling off-balance 'layups' go swish-swish.
Hoping for and betting we'll get another gritty team performance tomorrow night.
These guys like one another. Great to see.

For the few that don't know Pat, you will hard pressed to find a guy that bleeds more SJU red. His knowledge of our beloved hoops program is second to none. You know the Redmen are heading in the right direction when GL makes a post :D .

Very good to see you back, GL. Looking forward to seeing more of you around here.

Mitch Foster was awesome. Built like a brick outhouse, hustled on ever play and knew his role exactly.

It’s great to see ESPKEN posting again. For those unfamiliar with him,
his ability to recall factual sports related information is nothing short of incredible.

He was a moderator on the early days of this site and I look forward to his insights.

Seriously things must be moving in the right direction. Next thing you know Cos will be back. ;)

I saw the title of this thread and I got worried something bad had happened to him. It is always great to hear from ESPKEN and Golden Leaf.

To add a good teammate who was very good interacting with people off the court also.

Ironically, 3 of his best offensive games for us, came in his 3 NCAA Tournament games .

1992 vs. Tulane (loss)- 22 minutes, 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3-6 FG, 4-6 FT
1993 vs. Texas Tech (win) - 18 minutes, 9 points, 3-4 FG, 3-4 FT
1993 vs. Arkansas (loss) - 15 minutes, 6 points, 10 rebounds, 2-3 FG, 2-2 FT
