The FBI's exposure of widespread bribery, fraud and cheating in college basketball has hit the sport hard, and now NCAA president Mark Emmert has conjured a committee that he hopes will clean up the sport. Fifteen days removed from the bombshell of a story that jolted college hoops into a state of discomposure, Emmert announced the NCAA has formed a "Commission on College Basketball" lined with big names and big objectives.

That's akin to letting the heads of the 5 families establish a committee to clean up the mob

Emmert comes from an academic background and that is what academics do - form committees. I worked with him in a previous life and he is a smart and savvy guy and I think pretty fair minded. I do agree though that the NCAA's outcome will be pretty ineffective.

I don't doubt that he is smart and savvy(the same can be said for the heads of the 5 families), which is why he had to know what was going on on his watch. And that makes him complicit in these criminal activities. This smells to me a lot like an attempt at damage control, with a little bit of smoke screen thrown in. Nothing more.

Emmett WAS appointed to clean up the NCAA. So now "the cleaner" is appointing a committee to clean up the NCAA? If he didn't have some inkling about what has been going on, then he is completely inept!!

Emmett: "quick, lets do something before they start looking closely at us". As long as the money kept rolling in, the NCAA suits could care less what the monetary arrangements were between the parties, legal or illegal. They knew, and they not only allowed it to continue, but they allow it to get out of control. Of course the suits will walk away unscathed while mostly a bunch of assistant coaches and some handlers take the fall.

"A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time
A businessman is caught with 24 kilos
He's out on bail and out of jail
And that's the way it goes
Raah!"

Schools like Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and a handful of others wouldn't be annual championship contenders without the interference of the NBA players association.
Who the fckd are they to decide the employment rights of an adult male athlete? They interfere to keep the league seniority rights for existing players by excluding new talent. When did million $ employees need a fking union? Same goes for the NFL. Instead of kneeling these "minority" players who make up the majority in both sports should not be restricting and discriminating against 19 year old black athletes to protect their own paychecks.
Hypocrites all of them!!!!

"White lines go away..." Nice song reference....
