EXCELLENT description of Earl "The Pearl" Monroe"s" style of play. I'm not sure if it was from the Philadelphia off-season "Baker League or the Legendary "Rucker League" in Harlem, but I remember kids coming from back from the games to the School-Rec Center I worked @ near Queensbridge and talking about "Black Jesus" & how this player named Earl Monroe was a magician. I guess that moniker wouldn't have been widely acceptable at that time! Either way, the "Pearl" was special. THANKS for posting the link and taking me on a trip down memory lane!
