dunlap update

All it takes is for players to stop listening, tune you out so to speak. It happens fast.

You would think that Dunlap's "schtick" would play thin with the prima donas in the NBA
You can't get away with the same antics there that you can with college kids
Dunlap belongs in the college ranks. Pro players won't put up with his "style" for very long.

For crying out loud. This is a HORRIFIC team you're talking about, and he already has as many wins in 27 games as they got in 66 last year.

Byron Freaking Mullins is their BEST rebounder. Their top 3 scorers shot 42%, 41%, and 40% from the field. Their #2 scorer is RAMON SESSIONS!

This is a 3 year rebuilding job, at the VERY least.

Jordan hate losing, but he also hates complainers. I very much doubt there is a player on that team who will be able to convince MJ to end Dunlap's contract before it expires.

18 straight losses.
You seriously have to wonder if he gets the carpet pulled from under him.

Maybe he will come back as an unpaid assistant for the rest of the season as he probably won't need much money with the settlement he should receive if canned.

Unlike Avery Johnson, a proven winner who had the rug pulled out with a 500 record.

I viewed this as a caretaker hire rather than a real opportunity. If he lasts out the year I'd be surprised. When they think they have a team they'll spend the cash fo a name guy. Question is does Lavin take him back? He'd have been better off in college with his style but recruiting would be a problem. He and Lavin are a good fit.

What is Dunlap paid to coach the Hornets ?

Three years worth of Lavin's salary in one year is not bad! And he does not have to pay $10,000 per month to live in the West Village. LOL!

Thanks 72.
$5,000,000.00 a year is great with the low cost of living in Charlotte.

5 mill a year ? That would make him one of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the nba.

The $10,000 per month mortgage expense and the Lavin salary were in jest. Mike is rumored to earn $1.5 million.....the same as Lavin minus the benefits. Mike earns 3X what he earned at SJ with that estimate. $10,000 per month in suburban Charlotte would get Mike a palatial mansion with an indoor swimming pool, 4 car garage, and maids quarters and not a SOHO apartment like Steve. LOL!

Wait how much is Dunlap getting paid?

Bobcats beat the Bulls last night to end losing streak. Coach Dunlap is doing a good job. His best player is a) Kemba Walker b) Gerald Henderson or c) Ben Gordon. To win with that roster is like trying to bake a cake without flower. He is doing more teaching than coaching. Hope he gets some more players next year when then drop the $10 million salary of Dasanga Diop, smh.

@WojYahooNBA: Charlotte isn't rushing to make a decision on coach Mike Dunlap's future. Letting exit interviews and coaching market unfold for now.

Great analogy and I totally agree. He's met if not exceeded any reasonable expecations for the team this year. With that written, I selfishly would love him to get canned and return to STJ!
