VICE TV announced on Friday that “Pitino: Red Storm Rising”, a six-part docuseries on the St. John’s men’s basketball program, which will premiere on February 11.

The docuseries will provide a behind-the-scenes look into the St. John’s men’s basketball program and Hall of Fame Head Coach Rick Pitino.

VICE TV will debut Pitino: Red Storm Risingon Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10 p.m., and the series will run for six consecutive weeks leading up to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The series will additionally be available on multiple streaming platforms, including Hulu, Sling, Philo, DISH Anywhere, VidGo, Xfinity and DirectTV Stream.

The filming for the docuseries began in the fall and has followed the program step-by-step through the 2024-25 campaign, where the Red Storm are off to its best start through 18 games since the 1985-86 season. The show features exclusive interviews with Coach Pitino, Red Storm players, college basketball media personalities and much more.

The Johnnies hold a 15-3 record on the year and are off to their best start to BIG EAST play at 6-1 since the 1998-99 campaign. Pitino, in 37 years as a collegiate head coach, is the winningest active coach in NCAA Division I Basketball totaling 869 career victories. The New York native was the first coach to ever bring three different schools to a Final Four and has won two National Championships at Kentucky (1996) and Louisville (2013).

It would be an amazing addition to the documentary if one of the players reads posts from one of our game threads from start to finish.

Maybe they start with the Providence game. That contained quite a few insane comments. Heck, we could start a successful NIL by blackmailing posters into funding it, or being exposed for constantly insulting players during game threads.

The scene can end with Kadary reading all the posts about him never diving for a loose ball.
 
This Pitino doc is part of their new sports division I believe. They are also doing one on Calipari in his first year at Arkansas

A segment on players reading the posts from a game thread would be f'ing must see tv ! :)

hopefully they film the whole season. this could potentially be a special season. kinda reminds on the ESPN documentary during the Jarvis year

Vice Media formally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 15, 2023 as part of an eventual sale to a consortium of lenders that included Fortress Investment Group which alongside Soros Fund Management and Monroe Capital, reportedly invested $225 million as a credit bid for nearly all of its assets. The sale closed in August 2023.
