@CodyTaylorNBA: "Former St John's guard D.J. Kennedy will play Summer League for the New Orleans Pelicans, a source said".

One of my favorite blue collar players.

Yep! I won't soon forget that layup vs Pitt at the Garden. I still use the final scoreboard as my avatar.

That was Hardy who made that shot.

One of the keys to that team though, were DJ and Paris's ability to accept a backseat role to Hardy and Brownlee, after the former two were the focus of the offense for the previous two years.

Oops. Thanks. Still an amazing shot (and a nice call by the ref).

My second favorite game winner next to Steve Shurina nailing the baseline J against Cuse in the BET.

If you are referring to the 1986 BE Tournament final, that was Ron Rowan not Steve Shurina.

SJU85 Mainman knows that all too well.
He is just kidding as he always does. :)

While Hardy provided offensive firepower and played about as well as anyone in the country for about 6 weeks of the season, and Brownlee was such an incredibly big upgrade over minutes that went to Sean Evans prior, Kennedy was the glue of that team. He did everything reasonably well - shooting, passing, rebounding, ball handling, decision making - that once he went down with the knee injury our season was over. If he could play at that level in the NBA, he could be an incredibly valuable player, but of course the NBA is a quantum leap from college. Whatever the outcome a solid citizen and key player for us - surely NR's best recruit.

Mainman has the greatest persona on the board, wicked but dry sense of humor that always seems to catch someone!

Talking about game winners I have to go with our win in the Holiday Festival at the garden. With Utah up by one and the ball, Alfieri faked losing his contact lens, leaving the refs to call a timeout. Henceforth, Utah can't get the ball in bounds; St.John's ball. With seconds remaining a pass to center, Lou Roethel, between the foul line and top of the key throws a hook shot to give the Redmen a one point victory.

I usually catch his and other's sarcasm or dry wit, but totally missed it this time

Paris Horne also played well down the stretch for Overseas Elite.

It was originally announced that DJ would be on the New Orleans Pelicans' summer league roster. Although, he never showed up in a box score. Anyone know what happened?

Always pull for DJ.

Still the same warrior we remember from his time at sju

He brought a lot to the table in all ways. My guess is that with a better program might never gotten the chance to develop and show all his talents. HE was a tremendous get by Roberts.
