Dickie V's AA Picks

Why does Buddy Boeheim get so much love from all these analysts? He can shoot it, but to me he’s a product of that system.

100% agree.  He’s a shooter but that type accolade is a bit much.

Because Dickie V is an ACC acolyte

1. The Old Man [Boeheim] has been coaching for 50 years...oldest of old boy network.
2. Traditionally, Vitale always sways to the ACC...then the other Power 5 conferences.

Nice that Julian continues to see and hear the Love, can only help CMA with recruiting.

I remember a radio between Francesa and Boeheim after Syracuse announced they were going ACC. Francesa prefaced the interview by recalling how Boeheim would go on and on about never leaving the Big East, the Syracuse-Big East bond would never be broken etc...then Boeheim retorts, very matter of fact, that this great for Syracuse basketball and Syracuse...even Francesa couldn't believe what he was hearing

Come on Dickey V., Baby, come one! JC first team!, CG got schooled by Posh Alexander!, and he's first team, Buddy Buckets, really!? Come on baby, get real. Posh not even fifth team, come on Dickie baby.

P.S. to the point about Boeheim, now that he is ACC, Dickie of course favors his kid, I am sure there are other connections, Boeheim and Coach K, etc., etc.

BUT, Jim B on the BE move at the time (his view changed over the ensuing years): Boeheim reacted with sadness over the demise of league that he feels holds a special place in college basketball history."It has been a privilege to be in this conference," he said. "Anyone who thinks I am not disappointed, that I am not sad that the Big East did not survive, they don't know me. I don't have any patience for those people.""It made my life," he said. "It made my career. I don't get into the Hall of Fame. I don't get the Olympics. I don't help coach two gold medal-winning Olympic teams and a world championship team or work with USA basketball. That all came from getting into the Big East. That is what the Big East did for me. A lot of people who make these decisions (around the country) have been here a couple minutes. I have been here 50 years. The last 34 in the Big East. It has been an unbelievable ride. ... This is what I know."

Yeah, thank god we don't have Buddy B or Kofi C. Neither would fit in here. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

I don’t think we wouldn’t love to have both of them.  I just don’t think Buddy is quite an All-American caliber player overall.  He’s certainly a good player though.

Obviously-or at least I thought it was obvious-I was joking aka busting chops. I figured /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png would make that clear.  I know we'd all take Buddy in a heartbeat. At least I think we ALL would. However, having said that, there were some on the board last season who were saying that there's no way Kofi would fit on our team, and we were better off without him. So, as with most joking, there's at least a sliver of truth thrown in there.

No complaints on where they have Julian.  He can (and I hope he will) play himself onto the first team and possibly national player of the year.

There are some who will say the accolades Boeheim receives is because of his father and some will say the the flack he receives is because of his father.  I think he is a pretty good ball player who has gotten better ever year and is more than the stand still jump shooter he was a freshman.

Curbelo getting some love on the 4th team.  This could be a big year for him.

I agree Buddy is not a 1st Team All-American.  Nice player, but I would rather have the Champ.

André Curbalho is a very good player who is surrounded by some excellent  pieces. Posh has 1 excellent piece to defer to. Hoping this years team provides Posh with some better offensive options in order that he can attain the love that Andre is obtaining on a national level.

I mean, like who TF pays any attention to what Dukie Vitale has to say. What a P-Boy.

Can anyone say have another drink?
