Detroit - Syracuse

I wish they had lost. I despise that program, even though I went there.

Matt, I went to Cuse for grad school for a year. I feel the same way. I won't have a degree from their though, so it makes it easier, not that if I had stayed I would have ever rooted for them. Living their for one year made them go from the short list of teams I really dislike, to the team I hate more than all others.

Wow - hard to believe Detroit came THAT close with McCallum having only a 9pt 4 assist game. He gets his usual 19, its a motown win....

I wonder how many STEALS Michael Carter- Williams had.

If one of our players did what he did we would be banned from post season play and not allowed to recruit for the next 5 years.

Would we? Because the NCAA bans teams when one of their players allegedly commits a crime?
No, they don't. I've heard that sentiment mentioned several times now and it should be put to bed.

The onus is on Syracuse to discipline it's players or not. Plenty of athletes across the country in all sports get misdemeanors from petit larceny and dwis to misdemeanor assaults resulting from bar fights.
Some coaches suspend the player, some throw them off the team, and plenty discipline them "internally". But there's no consensus, each coach and AD treat it differently.

Arguably Boehim shouldn't be playing Carter-Williams right now.
But, stop acting like there's some higher power letting Cuse off the hook. That's just not the case.

The big boys get preferential treatment I think it's hard to argue otherwise. That was my point. Shabazz was deemed ineligible then ruled eligible what days later? We still don't have Sanchez. God I hate that name right now.

Just curious Matt but why do you hate them if you are an alum?

Because I've been a St. Johns fan my whole life.

Great response. My daughters went to Nova, became big followers of that program, but grew up on SJU basketball. Two years ago, when we beat Nova in Philly, our entire family drove down to the game. I asked my daughters, one a student at the time, who they were rooting for. Both looked at me quizzically, and said "St. John's, of course." They don't hate Nova, still follow them and root for them, but SJU is their team.

You have to remember MattC was posting on here when he was a freshman in HS and had no idea where he'd be going to college. Of course I think he wants(ed) to be a sports journalist (am I right Matt?) so Syracuse was a natural destination, no matter what he thought of the basketball team. I have to wonder though what type of abuse he took at school given the time frame of his being a STJ fan attending Syracuse during the Norm years. LOL.

You did a good job with them, Beast of the East!

Went to Syracuse for 2 1/2 years but finished my degree at Temple University. Moved out to Washington State for a year and became a sports reporter at an NBC affiliate out there. Moved back east a few months ago now doing sports marketing.
