DePaul seeking new arena

A new arena closer to their campus would be great for DePaul. I'd love to see them get back to being a major player in college hoops. Would be great for the Big East
 
That is more than trying. 300 million dollar arena and a good coach and they will be a big player. Great to see DePaul and the city of Chicago stepping up to the plate. Great for the Big East. Chicago should be a big player in the basketball world and DePaul is Chicago's SJU.

He doesn't deserve to be. Depaul should not be this bad. Chicago has one of the best and deepest talent pools in the country.

They seem to keep hiring guys either unwilling or incapable of playing the game with the power brokers in Chicago. I'm not sure if someone like Rod Strickland can coach his way out of a paper bag, but I think at this point AAU guys would have thrown him some bones if he was coach.

Further to Depaul . . . last night the general assembly passed a bill that included funding for the McCormick Place arena. It is a go.

Although this may have been discussed, the arena is part of a general effort to expand McCormick Place. The arena would serve as a location for smaller conventions that do not want or need the massive size of the current McCormick facilities. Giving this capacity to McCormick Place is why Emanuel wants the arena. Giving a home to Depaul baseketball is not the focus.

Also on the general assemly's docket for today is a bill giving Chicago a casino. If it passes, the casino likely also would be located at McCormick Place, which would make the redevelopment of the facility even more extensive.

OUCH. Yet, it's hard to disagree with much of that posting/article.
