David Caraher
Heady player, but don’t have as optimistic view of him as this writer. Imo, if he sees ample minutes I’d be surprised and worried a bit. Hope I am wrong, obviously is a nice kid.

Great kid, but..... Just seems like the D at this level is to big and quick to give DC the time he needs to get his shot off. He can't create on his own or shoot off pick. Unless CMA runs plays to get him open, he's going to continue to have a hard time getting looks from mid-long range.

If some of our other more athletic players are playing and shooting well he will be in a real battle for playing time. Me, I see John Havlicek.

I've heard he's a great student and has a serious girlfriend at St. John's. I think he sees the writing on the wall that his PT may decrease a little more with each game . . . but he may be ignoring it and instead sees getting two-thirds (or all) of a law school education on St. John's dime as the more important bigger picture.

There are one or two guys who may be squeezed to the point of where transferring may be the better option for them, but I'm not sure Caraher is one of them.

Do not be surprised if his minutes match last years. The kid is a good solid role player at this level especially with a year of BE basketball under his belt and a year of understanding the Anderson system. He is in excellent condition to play his required minutes.

Hondo is a Hall of Famer.

I didn't know he was a former Butler commit, which essentially means that had he gone there he would have been one of many Butler kids who would continually stick wide open jumpers against us.

You can see why Butler liked him. He is a heady player, who as the season went on, played within himself and was very efficient. What shortcomings he may have on talent he makes up for with being a fundamentally sound player who fights for position and mixes it up under the boards, plays tough defense, and takes high percentage shots.

One of my favorite Bobby Knight theorems is that it is his job as coach to put each player on the floor in a spot to be successful. That not only includes positioning on the floor, but also playing him where the matchups are favorable. If CMA does this with Caraher, I'm somewhat confident that Caraher will reward CMA the way he did in the latter half of last season, where he was a solid contributor. I think Caraher will be a rotation player whether his minutes are the same or not. He earned that chance with his play last season, as did Earlington.

That being said, can anyone tell me what a floppy set is?

You teed that one up Beast, but I’ll pass :)

I hope David has a productive year for us. Nice kid who has gotten himself into best shape possible to play in Big East. As others have said, CMA clearly trusted him, but he also had very limited options, especially once Heron went down.
I've often thought that Caraher would be a great fit playing for McKillop's Davidson Wildcats down the road from me, but then again they don't have a law school. I do expect his three point percentage to improve this year to at least respectable low 30%s. He may wind up as 10th man, but expect that he will have some game situations where he gets 10-15 minutes.

Iron Mike loves this kid. He is one of the best passers on the team and towards the end of last season, really found his 2 point jumper and was sticking them consistantly.

But......he cannot guard anyone at this level and is short on every 3 he takes.

I think he will have the same role as last year. Coach will find him 8-10 minutes a game.

Team runs a zone against us this year (as they should) who do you want running the baseline for a 15 ft corner J or getting to the top of the key for a touch pass?

Doesn't mean he won't improve his 3 point shot.
Hondo H. no way; but I see a Joe Harris (Nets) type guy, albeit on the college level, and not as gifted.
I was obviously using hyperbole when I posted I see John Havlicek an MBA HOFer, but he reminds me of him relating to size, movement and his use of the banking board.

That's pretty funny Paultz. Obviously I'm not ready for the little blue pill.

He is definitely big east caliper and will outperform expectations...heady...scrappy...cocky...confident....and cma loves him....i love this guy...like Earlington he will surprise....my prediction...
