I'm not sure any of you have read Telep's tweets from today. He is doing some "preaching" today. He acknowledges that he's part of the problem (in the recruiting world), but would like to rectify it in some way, shape or form.

It's interesting, I'll say that.
Telep isn't a bad guy, and his heart is clearly in the right place. But, he is on his high horse a little bit.
But there's plenty wrong with the basketball system. So I can't fault him for trying.
The one thing I think he's wrong about is the quality of youth basketball. Youth basketball has never been better in this country in my opinion. Dave critizices players for having a lack of fundamentals and a team-first philosophy, but he spends his time watching AAU games.. what do you expect from a showcase atmosphere?
He doesn't give enough credit to young players or coaches at the lower levels. Don't kid yourself, people work real hard with young ball players to make them better shooters and defenders etc.

But, like I said ... there's so much wrong with the system, that I can't fault Telep for trying. I'm just not sure I agree with a lot of what he's saying.

Personally, I thought he had a mix bag of points (I think he probably had a 'lil more good than bad). I do agree with you, in reference to youth hoops--overall--being a pretty solid.

It was a mixed bag. And you're right, there's probably more good than bad.
I think he's on the right track to criticize the transferring. Both in HS and college, it's gotten out of control. And on the flip side, it's also becoming epidemic that coaches "clean house" when they're hired, or push guys who have been hurt out the door. What Pitino and Larry Brown have done recently is just as bad. There needs to be loyalty from both the school and the players.

Telep is the same guy who over-ranks all North Carolina prospects. So who has an agenda?

So much wrong with high school recruiting and his company is one of the biggest culprits.

But he wants to call out AAU programs.
