Dartmouth

FWIW, they bring a .476 shooting % and hung 84 on Longwood, in contrast to our .438 and 65.

No doubt we will win, but as usual the starting line-up and substitutions will be interesting.

It is an important game because it will impact our confidence. Win comfortably and maybe we can get something going against the Hall and Butler.

I'm sure the Darthmouth coach is telling the team ; put some pressure on Harrison contesting his outside shot, allow everyone else to shoot from 18 ft. and if we can be within eight or nine with 5 min. to go we can win

It will be interesting to see how Max does against an Ivy team after freezing in fear against the Friars.

Reminded me of my first time playing on the main court at Lost Battalion Hall. I was too small and too slow to be there, as there were division one players on the court. But my friend, on the JV of a division one school at the time, was bored with the side courts. First time I got the ball I was surrounded by what seemed like 20 large hands, and was probably stripped or tied up. Can't remember. I just know it didn't turn out good. But that was a pickup game. The Friars game was major college basketball. Big difference. Lavin put that kid in that spot. Either he doesn't know the limitations of his players, or knows but doesn't care.

That's a blast from my past too! I used to go to Lost Battalion all the time to play. I remember that main court was a bit intimidating. I managed to not embarrass myself the few times I played with the big boys, but I enjoyed the side courts more. Worst thing was I had my wallet stolen from there while I was playing. Took all my id's and credit cards 1 day before going on vaca. That sucked. Hope we can win today...

When we put a hurting on the Green Titans today - and we will put a hurting on them - how many of you are going to apologize to Coach for all the bad, bad, super bad things you said this week?

We are the Lapchick Tournament in January, we are St. John's.

What I would like to see for this game and moving forward

Jordan
Harrison
Branch
Jakarr
Sanchez

Pointer is a great 6th man rotating should be rotating only with Jakarr
Phil Green should be limited minutes and only as relief for (Jordan, Harrison, and Branch) only
CO should only replace Sanchez which Sanchez taking the bulk due to his slightly better offensive game

Gift needs to start using his body and his strength to get rebounds and then can start rotating with CO and Sanchez. I've seen way smaller guys running over him and when other teams shoot I see everyone one our team freeze and watch the ball.

Would it be crazy to think STJ can beat Dartmouth, beat Hall Thursday, then steal one in Butler who is struggling just like us Sat?

No it would not and that is what you have to hope for;

I think the anti-Lavin and fire Lavin stuff is way overboard. It started when we got off at 0-2, and really way before that. Beating Dartmouth at home doesn't prove anything, nor does beating Seton Hall at home. Those are games we should win. If we climb to 3-5 in conference, then we can begin talking about the team starting to track. Until then....

Getting to 3-5 would mean beating Creighton on road. I'd be happy with sitting at 4-6 heading into Ceighton at home Feb 9th. That should be their goal right now.

That would be Big Green... no titans

Prediction: We beat Dartmouth tonight and all the blind optimists begin to think we have miraculously put the season back together.

Please people.......remember, IT'S DARTMOUTH. If we win and look dominant, it will mean NOTHING. I just won't be able to bare all the ....."if we win x amount of games in a row, we can.....bla, bla bla".

By the way, anyone want to purchase some snake oil? Unfortunately I bought too much of it about four years ago.

Bitterly Yours.......James

FIRE LAVIN!!!!

EIGHT IS ENOUGH: Lavin continues to tinker with different lineups and combinations -- he used his ninth different starting five (in 17 games) in the loss to Providence. It's time (way past time, in fact) to establish a regular rotation.

No offense to God'sgift Achiuwa, who performed admirably against the Friars, but Chris Obekpa is younger, more talented, and should be playing ahead of him. And Rysheed Jordan should have been in the game in overtime instead of Max Hooper.

How about a regular starting lineup of D'Angelo Harrison, Jordan, and either Jamal Branch or Phil Greene in the backcourt, with JaKarr Sampson and Orlando Sanchez up front? Then bring Sir'Dominic Pointer, Obekpa and either Branch or Greene off the bench.

An eight-man rotation, with defined roles for each player, could lead to much-improved chemistry. Save Achiuwa and Hooper for special situations, like foul trouble or last-second shots.
