Thank you for sharing this article. What a fascinating article on so many levels. I can’t relate to his story as very few can. Going from East St. Louis to a multi millionaire to bankrupt in such a short period of time. However there are elements that hit close to home and I wish him well. To think he just turned 37 years old.

As somebody who was 12 when he came into the league I remember everyone wanted to look and play like D Miles. His description of Sterling and playing for the Clips is hilarious. Glad to hear his life has come full circle.

he was part of the sju version of the "fab 5" w omar cook, kyle cuffe, mohamed diakite, and willie shaw. we all know how that went. i remember even after he committed to sju that it was unlikely he would ever come.

what could have been...

Marcus Taylor (played at Michigan State) is to the right of Miles and I believe that's Michael Boynton standing beside Cook.

And the guy in the middle with the white shirt? ;)

There was a debate on Twitter about if he should've gone to SJ for a yr instead. Gottlieb implied he should have gone to college for a yr. Some guy with a bunch of followers and a verified check mark responded "I'm sure one year at St John's would have fixed everything" clearly throwing shade. It got 3,145 likes. Ouch.

I don't think they were only taking a shot at St. John's but stating the obvious that one year of college wouldn't have changed his life and one year of college anywhere might not have.

Agree, Andrew. Clearly had nothing to do with St. John's; bigger issue for sure.
