Dangerous in Feb

Lavin continues to say this team can be dangerous in Feb, but for arguments sake right down with the game on that line- at crunch time the line up should be either Branch or Greene at the point, Harrison, and Sampson, Dom and Okepka up front. I guess my question is if these 6 have played together for over a year, why can't they be dangerous now.

I really like the lineup of Jordan, Harrison, Dom, Sampson and Obekpa, especially defensively. With Dom at the top of the 1-2-2 or playing man this lineup can create havoc. Jordan has looked a little lost offensively but his man defense the last three games has been real good. I also think this unit did well against Georgia Tech.

Overall, I do think Jordan or Branch has to play point. Greene is fine in a three guard lineup or off the bench to spell Harrison, but the offense will be better with the other two at the point.

Even with your line up 4 out of 5 have played togther for over a year-- why will it take until Feb to be dangerous?

My question to you if those 6 weren't dangerous last February, why do you think they should be finishing games now?

They didnt have Harrison . Anyway that's not my point. My point is Lavin is saying Feb, which to me makes no sense

What makes sense is that expected key players such as Sanchez and Jordan will have 2/3 of a season under their belts, and Lavin is saying those guys will be reaching their expected levels of play, and the rest of the team will have gelled by then. It's not a horrible forecast on his part, just that IMO, they aren't improving game by game.

I think the most important learning so far this season is that PGIV has to be used off the ball and that we live or die with Jamal and Rysheed at the point. Figuring out the big men rotation is next. Do you want Primo or Jakarr slashing to the foul line against Cuse because that is where you beat the 2-3 zone? February sounds about right. I miss CRGreen being here to tell us that.

Most posters said that last year re Phil. The problem last year is that Branch got injured. I agree w you, But Phil is playing better this year and we all know how Lavin feels about him. We will see.

Look at Cuse, they only have 2 starters back and 4 or 5 new guys in their rotation and they don't miss a beat. They aren't saying we will hit our stride in Feb when we gel...I know we can't compare ourselves to Cuse but we have 4 starters back and a few new pieces

Sounds like a nickname that a star player would have. Literally it translates to cousin in Spanish but I have no idea where it comes from.

I do not think he was named Primo as in cousin in Spanish by friends but because he was a first class guy and teammate. It has been used to complement others since I was a kid.
Then again, I hope he was NOT nicknamed after a spiked reefer! LOL!
