Dakari Johnson- KENTUCKY VERBAL

Announced he will be attending Kentucky as opposed to Syracuse or Georgetown.
Their recruiting is just off the charts. He is now class of 2013 as he reclassified.

Scout: 3,4,10,15,39 Yeah, pretty off the charts. If they get Wiggins or Randle best class ever.

I know I will get killed for this, but I think in an effort to create more parity, a team should only be able to have so many top 25 recruits or something. 4 top 15's...really? It's almost like playing a season of madden getting a ton of #1-5 draft picks. Not really fair IMO. I understand it's the reward you get for being such a successful program and motivates other teams, but there is a line that should be drawn I believe. Imagine the Miami Heat getting like 5 early first round picks in the draft?

No reason to kill you for it but it just won't happen. First thing is you can't stop kids from going to schools that they want to go to provided they'll have them. That plays along with the farce of student athletes at the top levels. Second who decides the rankings? They're subjective and even if they get a consenus system up like a combination of RSCi and BCS it's not going to be perfect.

So there's only a few things that could affect this. First is the likelihood that Cal gets another NBA offer and feels the need to redeem his tarnished NBA legacy. Not every coach has had this level of success at Kentucky so even if the boosters don't run out of money it's not guaranteed that a new coach will have the same level of success. ;)

Allow kids to jump to the NBA again. It might end up being good for the NCAA but it's bad for the NBA and the NBAPA to revert back so it's unlikely to happen. However, I'd suggest that there might be a way to do a supplemental NBDL draft that includes HS seniors that offers them the opportunity to play for pay for one year in the D League and then enter the NBA draft. There are plenty of kids only going to school because they think it's the only way. Such a setup would help kids understand that there is another option. Kentucky is essentially set up to be just that type of D League option and would lose the most kids.

My last option might even exist. I know it did at one time. What happened and what were the specifics of the rule where you could only sign a max of 4-5 players per classs and 7-8 over any two year period? DId that go away?

Yeah. I think it was towards the beginning of Norm's tenure that rule was rescinded.

I'm not gonna knock his skills because I've never seen him play but that was one of the dullest highlight reels I've ever seen.
