The Daily News also has the line listed as Kent - 22.

Can;t help it but that is down right embarrissing

Some folks were a bit surprised Duke was an 8-point underdog the other night versus Ohio State. You're talking about the number 4 team (Duke) versus the number 2 (Ohio State) team. Some people felt the line should've been a tad bit closer. We all saw how that turned out.

In this particular case, you have a UK team that is the #1 team in the nation; our current status; and, the game being played at Rupp then this current line isn't too surprising.

OTOH, the game is played on the floor and not on paper.

...and that's why they play the games!

The spread is about as close as the game should get IMO.
Looking at our most recent opponents, William and Mary were defeated by 29 points and Northeastern, who beat us at home by 14, lost to LaSalle by 17.

With no depth and outside shooting, coupled with a one-man rebounding front line, this game has all the makings of a blowout. I expect our walk-ons in the game late and Cal to be a gentleman and call off the cats when they are up 30 or more.

the funny thing is both teams play with 7 guys and kentucky is as young if not younger than our guys. they start three freshman and two sophmores. leaving stith out what do we start 3 freshman a junior and a sophmore? so i guess it shows theres a big difference getting not just top 100 guys but top 20 guys.

who are we going to put on davis and jones? i guess g.g. and harkless? yikes! and who's going to guard teague. i know he's not in the same league as derrick rose, john wall or tyreke evans yet but i'm pretty sure
he'll be blowing by our guys or shooting over them. hopefully we dont need our walkons by halftime. definately have to stay out of foul trouble even if it means giving up an easy basket

This is not the same SJ's team that was ranked as the #3 recruiting class in August. Three of its highest rated players are not here and trying to compare NBA ready freshmen to our not-ready-for-prime time freshmen is a stretch. This could be a moral victory if we lose by less than 20 or demoralizing loss if we lose by 35.

The only way I see us staying in this game is if Harrison goes off for us. I don't see Lindsey being able to drive so easily against this team, and Harkless is too passive on offense to really take over a game. Gods'gift has been a non-factor since the first two games. Sir'Dom seems to be starting to find his way offensively, so perhaps we'll see a breakout game from him. Overall though, we just are not deep enough and should lose by 20+ with potential for it to be a devastating loss by 35+.

I hope I'm wrong, but every one of Kentucky's starters will be in the NBA next year, so we're playing a physically NBA ready team, which I do not think we're ready for at this point in the season.

FWIW on ESPN's Streak for the Cash the bet is Kentucky wins by 25+ or Other Result. 93% have picked other so far.

Is there a return game in nyc in next yr or 2? That could have a closer result..

This is part of the SEC/BE Challenge. We were placed vs. Kentucky just as 2 yrs ago we were placed at home vs. Georgia. So no idea who we will play next year but I think they try to mix it up.

This is part of the Big East/SEC matchup. This isn't a random home-and-home type of scenario.

This matchup was actually about Lavin being a former ESPN analyst and the garnering of a #3 recruiting class, while UK had the #1 class. Initially, it looked like a dream matchup of sorts. Quite frankly, we should've been playing a middle-tier SEC team, regardless of our entire class matriculating or not.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't have minded seeing our entire class going to Rupp and see how they would fare. Obviously, 3 of 'em aren't available, which takes some of the luster off the game.

Would have liked to see Cuse go to Kentucky.

Maybe Vanderbilt? Maybe Auburn? Truth be told no one knows at this point. BE teams aren't even guaranteed games in this event since there's more BE teams than SEC teams though I think it unlikely that STJ is left without a game. This year Marquette, Notre Dame, USF and Nova are not participating. Nova and Marquette got the Jimmie V instead. I'd suggest Pitt, Syracuse and WVU be dropped in future years.
