Really nothing new in this updated article. What it comes down to is if Mo wants to be a mid to late first rounder or a lottery pick. If he stays one more year, gets bigger and has a nice run in the tourney, his stock will be off the charts. I

I still remember after the 1986 season when Walter Berry dominated college basketball and won numerous player of the year awards, he declared for the draft and was taken in the middle of the first round, where if he had stayed for his senior year he could of been a top 5 pick.

Mo has a tough choice ahead of him.

The one thing that I don't think that can be argued about is that Moe will almost certainly improve his stock with another year at SJU putting muscle on and rounding out his game as well as playing on a better team. He also has little to lose by playing one more year IMO... Ultimately, his decision and fans and coaches will and should support him on it. Love to see more Redmen in the pros.

I believe with another year and more talent around him that he can and, more than likely, will improve his stock. I've said it before and I'll say it again.... He'll be a top 5-10 pick--if not higher--a year from now.

Hopefully, he makes the decision to come back, but I'm starting to get the feeling he's probably played his last game for the Johnnies.

Funny you mention Rudy Gay since Uconn was Moe's first choice and had he gone there he would have gotten barely 15 minutes under JC. Our lack of players gave him a chance to play entire games and like an accidental tourist, he became an accidental NBA prospect without the physical tools, outside shooting or passing ability that he needs to survive six months from now in the camps. He may get a contract but will he make the cut?
Players that are not ready are drafted and traded like playing cards by teams that never show their true hands. Omar Cook was a great point guard and ball handler but he was not ready. I want to see Moe play in the NBA 5 years down the road and not in Montenegro.

BTW, Rudy was also the BE freshman of the year but he stayed through his sophomore year and became a lottery pick if I recall. He was also about 30 pounds stronger.

I hope moe waits until the NCAA tourney is done, so he can remember how exciting it is and hopefully realize it can be him and his st johns family out there next year. ONE MORE YEAR MOE!

Unfortunately there is too much truth in this post. I wish Mo all the best but I am not sure he is making the correct decision for Mo in the long run.

Good post, '72. Many times, UConn players could bolt after a particular season, but they usually play one more year to make sure they are actually ready to bolt.

I think Harkless truly needs another year, but I get the feeling he's a goner.
